76ers lose a double OT Thriller on Sunday vs Hawks | Wizards in town tonight
Well, the Sixers lost a really tough one on Sunday in DOUBLE overtime to a good Hawks team. The Sixers 'Big Three', if you want to call it that, actually played together in the losing effort. While it was nice to see Maxey, Embiid and George play together they clearly need more time together on the court. They've still only played a handful of games together. There were flashes of their potential here and there but it was a bit disappointing that they ultimately couldn't get it done. I do believe the Sixers are missing Kelly Oubre Jr. pretty bad right now, I believe many people overlook his skillset and overall talent that he provides this team. But this is the NBA and it's pretty much impossible to have a one hundred percent healthy roster especially come playoff time.
Still, they ALMOST won and that's nothing to completely dismiss. It's better than no signs of potential. George and Embiid are pretty massive players and with Maxey running around like the speedster he is, it was fun to watch at times.
This 'Big Three' is just a mixed bag at the moment.
Tonight the Sixers face the Wizards who are one of the worst teams in basketball. While it's unfortunate the Sixers have struggled against many good teams, hopefully they can still get it done tonight and avoid dropping to .500. I guess the plan is to just keep beating these lesser teams and play Maxey and Grimes loads of minutes. Grimes is actually experiencing calf soreness which isn't great to hear. Grimes has been steady for this team and should be in consideration for Sixth Man of the Year in my opinion if he keeps this up. Get these 'easy' wins and hopefully work on getting better and healthier as a team as the season progresses. Ideally, Edgecombe and McCain can see progression as well.
I'll be out tonight and I'm thinking that the game will be on where I'm at so that should be fun.
