76ers lose to Cavs in back to back contests | Pacers in town tonight
Well, right when the Sixers appear to be getting hot, apparently they're not. The Cavs came to Philly and swept them in two games. Rough. Wednesday's game was particularly ugly as the Cavs jumped out to an early lead and simply never looked back. Donovan Mitchell scored 35 points in 33 minutes.
Two days later the Sixers were a lot more competitive AND they held Mitchell to just 13 points. But Jaylon Tyson came to play and he dropped 39 in a close two point victory for the Cavs.
Going into these contests I had assumed the Cavs were descending while the Sixers were ascending. Welp, I was clearly mistaken.
Despite dropping two in a row, the Sixers are still sitting as the fifth seed in the East, but only by a hair as the East is absolutely cluttered with teams of similar records. Teams 2-10 have 20-26 wins and of course various teams have played a different number of games up to this point so it's all a bit hazy.
Tonight the Sixers play arguably the worst team in the NBA in the Indiana Pacers so hopefully the Sixers can grab their 23rd victory.
The Pacers have really struggled without Tyrese Haliburton but for them it could eventually work out. If Tyrese returns and is his old self, and the Pacers manage to get a really good draft pick, the Pacers could be a contender again quickly.
That's only another reason for the Sixers to make the most out of this season now. I hope they can find some consistency starting tonight. While I am pretty happy with this season they are still only four games above .500. The Sixers will officially be half way through their season after tonight's game.
No matter what though, life is incredibly stressful and so I'm just going to enjoy this game.
