Phillies lose a tough game in Miami as they begin BIG series vs Mets | Trea Turner and Alec Bohm out with injuries!!
WOW, yesterday was unfortunate on several levels as the Phillies lost a winnable game vs the Mets. Several baserunning errors and some fielding mental errors helped lead the Phillies to a close one run loss. In bigger news the Phillies lost two key players in Alec Bohm and Trea Turner! Bohm was out earlier this season and it seems that he'll return in roughly ten days. Turner is a moderate/major loss because well, Turner is one of the best players in baseball and his injury seems relatively, potentially serious. Turner has a Grade 1 right hamstring strain which is bad for any athlete but with Turner being a speedster, this hampers a massive part of his skillset and of course re-injuring this is a big risk. The Phillies likely won't see Turner again until playoff time. Ugh. Turner is one of my favorite players I just hate to see this!!
Edmundo Sosa, Weston Wilson, Otto Kemp and Donovan Walton are expected to try and fill in for the absence of Bohm and Turner. Sosa, Wilson, and Kemp are pretty solid, while Walton is a relatively unknown cat. I am a huge fan of Sosa already and I'm curious to see how Kemp does in this second stint in the majors.
The only tiny bit of good news was that the Mets lost again yesterday. So the Phillies indeed have a seven game lead in the NL East as this massive four game series begins in Philadelphia.
This is some pretty big adversity for the Phillies, but hopefully these utility backup guys can shine and it's decent that this series is IN Philadelphia!
Aaron Nola is on the mound today and he's really stunk in 2025 but if there was a time to turn this around it'd be today against the rival Mets.
The Phillies still have a lot of talent! Let's bury the Mets in the NL East and maybe even have them sweat the Wild Card!
