I will let SpongeBob and Patrick express my feelings right now regarding the current state of the Phillies.

These are indeed pretty dark times as a Phillies fan. For awhile I was wondering if I was overreacting but, I'm beginning to think I'm not overreacting too badly.

Bryce Harper was out briefly which was not great. But the pitching seems to have fallen apart here. Luzardo is randomly struggling, Wheeler had a bad outing recently and now he's out due to paternity leave, Aaron Nola was performing very badly and is now injured, José Alvardo is suspended... I mean YIKES. I hadn't really broken that down in my head let alone wrote all that down on a blog like this.

This is a major issue to say the least. Yesterday was a bullpen game and things looked ok until they weren't. The Phillies sent out Alan Rangel to make his MLB debut and he promptly gave up a two-run homer to tie the game. Then Jordan Romano came into the game and gave up another walk-off victory in the ninth for the second time in a couple of days. I'm not even TOO mad at Romano at this point. These losses are a collective effort. A meltdown of bad performances and unfortunate circumstances.

Certain players are going to have to begin performing above expectations to get out of this slump, simple as that.

Ranger Suárez is on the mound today in the Steel City. If he can go seven strong today, that would be a breath of fresh air for the whole organization at this point. Lets see how it goes. One game at a time.
