Uh-oh. I mean, a pretty big uh-oh. The Phillies got smoked again yesterday and I think many Phillies fans are very near panic mode overall. This is another loss which makes it six of seven. That's not exactly an encouraging rate even if the old excuse is used of 'there's plenty of baseball left'.

Luzardo looked awful once again and that's rather spooky to me. He was so good to start the year and through his last two starts he's been so bad. That's typically not a great sign.

The offense was also quite rough scoring only once in the 9-1 stomping. The Phillies seem borderline spiraling at this point. If they turn it around quick, perhaps I'll just chalk it up to a slump but these losses have looked really pretty bad. The Phillies roster as a whole is older, and I wonder if their experience has made them assume they'll sort of skate their way to the playoffs. Well, the league is always shifting and improving. These players have to lock in here and get focused!

The Phillies will be in the Keystone State but on the west side of the state as they face the Pirates. The Pirates are mostly struggling but, so are the Phillies. Maybe facing the Pirates will get the Phillies into a groove. I can only hope.

Zack Wheeler is out due to paternity leave so, he is unavailable for now. It's going to be a bullpen game for the Phillies this evening. Joe Ross will probably go no more than three innings to begin the game. Hopefully the bullpen can handle the Pirates today.

Interesting times for the Phillies. They need to show some grit!
