Phillies lost a rollercoaster of a game on Wednesday vs Boston, Taijuan Walker on the mound tonight in New York
Ok so I'm borderline panicking about Jesús Luzardo. He has lost four of his last five outings and hasn't won consecutive starts since May. The Phillies gave him a five run lead on Wednesday but he managed to lose that in pretty tragic fashion. He loaded the bases, walked two Red Sox home, and then gave up a Grand Slam. That checks every box of a meltdown on the mound. Yikes. I don't know what he or the Phillies do with him at this point. Maybe call Mick Abel back up? I'm not sure. Glad I'm not a manager or GM! Luzardo has a lot of potential still, maybe they should continue to show patience with him but Wednesday was brutal.
Yes, it was really the tale of two halves on Wednesday. The Phillies were absolutely crushing the baseball for much of the game actually. Schwarber, Harper, Castellanos, Realmuto, and even Stott all homered and the boys seemed in control, on their way to a sweep, of course until Boston came roaring back. The game was entertaining at least as it went to extras AGAIN. Two of these three games vs Boston went to extras. It was definitely a pretty memorable series I will say that.
Tonight the Phillies are set to face another iconic AL East team in Aaron Judge and the Yankees. The AL East has become a very intriguing division thanks to the absolutely surging Toronto Blue Jays. So the Yankees will be after some wins. Of course so will the Phillies as they've now fallen back a half game to the Mets in the NL East.
Big time baseball in the northeast, fun times.
