πMy Thoughts on the Sports World Todayπ
In the real world, NFL Week 1 is officially complete and well, why not rant a bit about the games!
Eagles defeat Cowboys, 24-20. This was a pretty enjoyable season opener. Cowboys competed well and nearly pulled off the upset. Dak Prescott looks like he's about to level up, which isn't something I thought I'd ever say, something in my gut tells me he's about to rip off several good seasons in a row. I'm talking better than he's ever had. He's only 32 and has nearly seen it all at this point, he seems confident. The Eagles look nearly as dangerous as last season and frankly if they're even ninety percent as dangerous as they were last year, then they could repeat. Interesting game.
Chargers upset Chiefs, 27-21. The Chiefs have had targets on their backs for the past decade pretty much. I am worried about them. I feel as if Mahomes and Reid might soon see a championship drought as did Brady and Belichick for quite awhile. Justin Herbert and Jim Harbaugh look locked in and hungry. Again, interesting game.
Colts destroy Dolphins, 33-8. Well, this was rather eyebrow raising. Colts played like a flawless game with Daniel Jones as QB. Jones literally feels like he's Ryan Tannehill at this point. I mean this in a GOOD way. We'll see it was just one week. The Dolphins have all bad vibes right now, they look lost. I'm telling you, all this speed spamming the league is doing is catching up slowly. Gotta have balance, the Dolphins feel unbalanced and soft.
Steelers defeat Jets, 34-32. This was a THRILLER. With Fields and Rodgers swapping teams and being massively different in age, this game felt oddly historic and lore building. Both teams should be proud and optimistic. Rodgers might have some juice left. Fields looks ready to maybe prove a lot of people wrong. He sorta reminds me of Lamar.
Jaguars defeat Panthers, 26-10. This was one of the games of all time.
Cardinals defeat Saints, 20-13. Cardinals are the most intriguing team. They seem to have solid potential. Kyler can be arrogant, and he's small but he's skilled and feisty and the franchise has seemingly gathered a decent roster. Saints look like they're in limbo.
Commanders defeat Giants, 21-6. Commanders are concerningly good, but a win over the Giants is not exactly going to convince me that Jayden Daniels won't have a sophomore slump. The Giants seem like they'll stink again but we'll see. Must be tough watching Daniel Jones go off though. That will be interesting to see how that ages.
Buccaneers defeat Falcons, 23-20. Bucs seemed to have won this game through sheer grit and aura. Wild. I'm a distant supporter of that team. The Falcons nearly sent it to overtime but close doesn't count unfortunately.
Bengals squeak past Browns, 17-16. The Bengals are so weird man. They are like a carbon copy of the early 2000's Colts. The Browns need to keep plugging away, I am low-key intrigued by them.
Raiders defeat Patriots, 20-13. I'm not counting Geno Smith and Pete Carroll out. They have an interesting connection I'm intrigued by. The Patriots are hard to read. The Mike Vrabel/Drake Maye era just started and I really have no opinion good or bad yet.
49ers defeat Seahawks, 17-13. The 49ers looked fine. But George Kittle is already injured which is unfortunate. They must stay healthy which feels like a total coin flip. The Seahawks, well, we'll see. Similar to the Patriots it's too early to tell what they'll be.
Packers defeat Lions, 27-13. The Packers look scary! The Lions should be good still, they'll probably respond well in the coming weeks.
Bills devastate the Ravens, 41-40. Dude... Josh Allen is the truth and the Bills are immediately my favorite to win the whole thing. The Eagles are right there. Might be Bills-Eagles in the Super Bowl. Possibly Bills-Commanders. A Bills-Bucs Super Bowl would change the world forever. LOL. Josh Allen might be an actual wizard bro. It's ridiculous. The Ravens should feel SICK. The Ravens need to do something. I don't know what but something. LOL. If I remember right they choked vs the Chiefs two years ago the Bills last year and now this game happens... yikes. But seriously, this was an all-time classic game.
Vikings devastate the Bears, 27-24. J.J. McCarthy showed he's got some swag to him. He looked like Mac Jones and then turned into a young Josh Allen or something. A prime/good Carson Wentz or something. Wild comeback. Caleb Williams might not be they guy. I'm losing faith in him. The guy has negative aura, and a complete lack of swag. Hmmm. He has potential still but something isn't clicking yet.
It was a fun Week 1 and I'm incredibly thrilled FOOTBALL is back.
