Rising Star Meme #64 - Some RNG Mindset!

meme64.png

I believe many are struggling with this kind of problem(just as I did before), so I thought about making a meme to address this kind of struggle.

Unlucky Days Happen

And that's a fact! You might go on an unlucky streak and get the feeling that the gods are punishing you, or even Jux is deliberately messing with you for listing that NFT for more than the market average, but that's the human brain trying to cope with smaller problems in a weird way.

It's just some simple Statistics. If a mission tells you that it gives between 1 and 1000 STARBITS rewards and you've gotten single-digit rewards 3 times in a row, there's a good chance that it has given you 800ish rewards in a row as well, but you've most probably missed that due to how our brain tends to dwell on negative thoughts more than the positives.

A Solution

is to keep repeating. I said it's some simple statistics and maths, and the way you can offset your "Bad Luck" is to keep trying to get your desired results, (i.e. the rewards you seek)

Another Problem: Wishful Thinking

Another thing I've noticed that feeds the previously mentioned problem is wishful thinking. You see, the mission in the previous example gave 1-1000 SB rewards and most of us automatically base our calculations on the fixed 1000 right away, and use 1 as the floor for rewards (the true/false mindset) while the reality is much different - it's not either black or white, but a shade of gray, you know.

The Better Approach

as many of you already use is just to use the median of that range. And something to note is not to get frustrated if you're getting rewards less than the median, there will definitely be times you'd get more than the median as well.

This becomes especially frustrating when you invest in the game big time and end up getting the same rewards as someone with less investment. The catch here is that your "bad luck" on rewards is someone else's "good luck"...

Hope that helps and I was clear on the points I wanted to make...
Cheers~
