It was necessary to keep bots from overloading the math.
It still serves that purpose, but we have squashed most of them.
Now, they come in waves of new accounts that do what they can until the they get found out and flagged.
Zero has over 70k accounts that it has identified as abusive.
Absent zero denying them rewards, that come out of the restivus, the pool would be spread much thinner and the dumping much greater.
