Each person's incompetence and fear, even hidden ones, would manifest when there are groups of people. The group should be actively looking for those "inefficiencies" and be trying to fix them. If left untreated, even those who don't have that particular negative trait, would absorb them from the group as a whole and would get crippled themselves.
