RE: The Daily Meme #694!

It doesn't eliminate the memory, it relocates it to the analytical portion of the mind where it is available for recall.
In the reactive mind it works like a stuck keyboard key.
And not always in a rational way.
Were the reactive mind rational it wouldn't cause problems.
Instead it equates all with all, and when enough similarities trigger the reaction the reaction can be irrational, or it can be the perfect thing at the perfect time.
The reaction is kinda random in that it can't be rationalized, only reacted.
So, if you have good responses trained in, you get a good response.

The aim of auditing is to reduce the charge on the earliest traumas first because later similar traumas work as a lock on the first.
But, some are occluded and require later charges be first reduced before the main engram can be accessed.
This is better covered in Dianetics, it discusses auditing more in depth than SoS.

I find it very difficult to come to terms with this theory, which is probably because I still consider what I have read so far and your linguistic explanation to be too mechanistic.

I probably have prejudices about the pigeonholing of the brain. "Mind" in this context is a term that is not clear to me. Therefore, for me, there cannot be an analytical and reactive part, as different parts where one can be "shifted" into the other.

Do I understand this correctly, that tones are worked with? I would be more open-minded if one could show results where a treatment has taken place, but even then, a propband would have to be studied not only over a short but quite a long period of time. And how is he supposed to bring up his improved well-being? How to classify it? That he is better able to curb his impulses (spontaneous "negative" reactions) because of this technique? What about spontaneous positive impulses? I have many questions, but they are not urgent to me. I will probably therefore have problems reading the books in their entirety, as they do not arouse my interest so much, i.e. they tend not to inspire me.

But I thank you for providing me with always new stuff.

SoS is about how to predict behaviors in others, for the actual auditing, ie reducing engrams, that is in Dianetics.
There are lectures that are available that will probably answer most of your questions.

how to predict behaviors in others

I'd say I am good at this already. HaHa!!! (Kidding a bit)
Though prediction of the behavior of others can make life quite boring. In particular when those others are easy to read/easy to predict. People are indeed easy to predict once you got to know them for a while. It gets harder to surprise one another once you live together, for example. So sometimes I just do something out of order for my husband, for example. Or I answer in an unusual way but I must say it's not easy for myself to change my communication style - practice needed:)

Thanks for the lectures! Good, reading made me a bit tired. Though I really like English.

He uses a lot of vernacular that is specific to dianetics, most of the books have a glossary if you get words you don't understand.
He uses words in specific definitions peculiar to the material, so it's easy to get lost unless you've encountered the terms before.
