The Daily Meme #718!

The regular inflation is around 70k HIVE per day.
source

70000 x 30 = 2100000
2100000 x .45 = 945000
945000 ÷ 2 = 472500
78000 ÷ 472500 = 16.5%

In terms of absolute numbers, the HIVE supply in February 2024 has increased from 421.9M to 423.5M, adding 1.6M HIVE in circulation, while the projected one is around 2M.

Remember, dear reader, the 50% that goes to curators also controls the 50% that goes to their selected authors.
These 2 facts are inextricably linked.
50% of rewards are controlled by the top 20 accounts.

What the top takes and bestows on the favored, nobody else can have.

I refreshed this pic several times and it wouldn't give me the rest of it.

I think we can see where this is headed.

Things are better since the fork.

But, I think we can agree that the chapter 9 challenge is proving its math right here in the hive.

When a system is designed to feed the profits to those that already have the most is that an optimal design for the rest of us?

I understand the need, in the context of hive, to have a control available when the chain launched, and probably while it is tremendously undervalued, but I will be happy to watch that iron grip relax over time.

Why would somebody with nothing want to stick around and watch the game of the rich getting richer playout before their eyes?

Masochism?

I think we have our answer in our active author to dead fish ratio.

2 million accounts, 4000 active authors.

It's a clue.
Not all of those are splinterlands and curation bots.
It's passed time to evaluate how things are currently structured in light of the time spent on this aspect of the chain's dynamics.
Imo.

This is extremely dangerous to our democracy.

It seems we do penny-pinch.

Well, when there is nothing else to pinch, what would you have us do?
The whale experiment at 800mv 4x'd everybody's vote value.
Those were exiting days.
Today the curation reward curve is different, I wouldn't expect our vote values to more than double, but do you want double what you have been getting/giving, or do you want to watch the already too rich get even richer?
I'd call it a no brainer.

Curation rewards have always been the crumbs... I try not to pay too close attention to the mega-whales, I try to keep to my own and collect tiny curation rewards.

IF it was about just the monetary aspects I would agree with you, but what we are dealing with here is power.
The more hive succeeds the more power we are talking about.
Why would we agree to a distribution that only sets up the new international banking families?
That is a club that needs abolishing, not replicating.

The more our distribution spreads out the better, imo.
That isn't being optimized currently, in fact, the opposite is happening.
Newbs can't wait to join a curation gang, thereby favoring the current distribution model.
'Delegate to us for bigger rewards!'

The 'influencers' of the chain are either in on the scheme or blind to the negative consequences for the rest of us.

This is not how to usher in a new web3 paradigm, iyam.

that's why hive is social, you have to be friend with whales to grow quicker
