In 1911, the Triangle Shirtwaste factory fire greatly disturbed her sense of justice.
She began using the tragedy to expose the corrupt nature of crapitalism.
For the want of a few minutes to go to the bathroom during a 12 hour work day, the owners locked the fire exits.
The women, some as young as 15, had to jump from the windows of the 10 story factory because the fire department's ladders were too short to reach them.
In one half of an hour, 145 workers, mostly female, were dead.

Emma has quite the storied life, she was no shrinking violet.
She ran an ice cream shop to finance her and Alexander Berkman's adventures in Homestead, Pa.
