Respect me, I am not your mate, I said to the girl I was chatting with while laughing. Well, I’ve seen myself saying this words more often these days. Though sometimes it comes as a joking remark but you know the saying that in every nonsense there is a sense.

I see me saying these to some persons who by reason of their relationship with me in one way or the other do not realize I am older than them or maybe have lost track of that information due to my simplicity. My simplicity goes beyond my personality and showed up physically hahaha.

I am of small stature and also have baby face and that has led to so many disrespect from people. When they rate me by my looks, they say that I would not be more than 23 years and because of the looks, they tend to look down on me.

Children of nowadays are very wild and they look way bigger than you and hence they are tempted to act like nuts loosed from their head. I’d be walking on the road with some of my friends whom I am far older than, you’d be wondering if I am their younger sisters or even their last born in the family. It’s so absurd.

Well, sometime ago, I happen to see a get together picture of some of my secondary school mates and I couldn’t help but be appreciative of my stature. Some of them are married and some are not. Some also have kids and some don’t. Most of them were looking like times three and four of how they used to be. I couldn’t help but notice how young I looked in comparison.

If I stood with them, you’d never believe that I we are mates. So the need for the respect me emphasis. Respect they say is reciprocal and that’s very true. Well, for me, it seems like I’d have to wear a hat or a tee shirt with a respect me boldly written both in front and behind.

In my hostel where I stay, there are a lot of girls here and most of them are all looking big while I look small. To get a greeting out of them is an issue . They won’t greet and when you greet them, they rarely respond . It so crazy. Some times I just want to scream at them and say, respect me girl, I am older 😂.
