Eco Hive

I probably meme-d about this topic sometime in the past but I can't find that particular post so I'll pretend it didn't happen. Why does it matter? because I try my best to keep things fresh in order to keep the lols coming, if you make the same memes over and over again things will eventually become stale.

Anyway, I was thinking about how little new accounts Hive has gained in the past bull cycle compared to what I ( and probably others ) expected. Some are saying that the dapps will take care of attracting and onboard-ing new users or Santa will magically make them drop down the chimney. But in my mind that's just throwing the problem in someone else's court and expecting it to magically get solved. You can't have a stable blockchain based social media without a serious amount of active users and also a steady influx a new ones.

You can see that after the giant increase in new accounts due to the Splinterlands hype business is almost back to usual with only a few hundred new accounts per week, and I'm sure a few a those are alts. Those are not the healthies growth figures at least in my mind.

What is needed is a coherent marketing strategy that can be focused on the fact Hive is way greener that Bitcoin for example, or on other benefits like that super nice HBD APR or whatever. Otherwise we'll keep having short surges in popularity followed by long periods of obscurity with not much growth. And that's a real shame. Think about how many people are missing out on some top quality lols because they are not on Hive to check out my world class memes :P

Don't get me wrong, Hive remains the best place to earn crypto and have fun in the crypto space but snail's pace growth and problems with user retention is something that can hurt it a lot in the long run.

Or we can just ignore the problem and pretend it doesn't exist like we have done for years. What could possibly go wrong? :P
