Hive hookups

To start off I have nothing against people making bank with auto posts, manual posts or any kind of posts, but after seeing this post by themarkymark I felt kind of an urge to make fun of the situation. Of course people can spend their hard (or easily :P) gained Hive power however they see fit, without abusing the system of course. But there is always a grey line between pushing the limits and actually abusing the rewards.

In the comments of that posts I was casually brainstorming some ideas about how things could be improved, like rules for how much certain types of posts can earn, but I think we need something like smart contracts for that to become reality. The funny bit is the word "rules" seems to trigger people for some reason :) While I'm not a fan of them either I don't know how any society could function if there would no rules, just imagine traffic without rules, I don't think it be a fun experience to say the least ( many would argue it's not a fun experience as it is )

Hive still has a lot of things to improve, and there must be community consensus of the important bits especially as the price of Hive rises, otherwise the drama will rise with it. The good thing is that for the past year the direction it has been evolving has been a very promising one, it just needs to stay the course.

Ps. Yes I was a dork in high school and somewhat resembled the kid with the balloons :P

Why do we have to fix a system that isn't broken. HIVE price keeps going up despite these auto poster abusers. All the inflation has to go somewhere, maybe it's better if it goes over to the diamond hand whales.

I think it's best to not compare ourselves to others, there's always gonna be someone bigger, better, faster, smarter, more rich, & more powerful. Instead it's best to focus on what we have, and what we can change.

Rules are no good, all new rules would do is function to cause panic for the big whales, as they swim for the exits. Rules would shake them up, and cause more trouble than it would be worth in the long run, my opinion.

And also who do you think would be in charge of making the new rules? The same people you'd be trying to stop with the rules. They will always be someone that finds a way to skirt the rules.

I knew the word "rules" would be especially unsettling for my American friends :)) Personally, I'm very content with how things are and how much I'm earning, as the dude in the meme is :)

I don't see the issue of whales voting whales. I see the issue more of a lot of users going to the trending page and voting on posts with large payouts so their curation reward is higher.

Personally I try to spread my votes around in the communities I enjoy and avoid the whale / trending posts at all costs

These days, it doesn't matter as much as curation rewards are mostly linear.

I agree.
My point was most users don't know this and continue to upvote high earning postings.

It's not about whales voting whales, it's about automated posts getting a big slice of the reward pool, that's the meme-topic :)
