Do Me And I Do You (Moses Law)

The rain caused me serious embarrassment yesterday. My umbrella got spoiled some days back and now that I have to complete my last paper, the rain is truly wanting to disturb me from writing exams.

My neighbour who was a JJC (meaning Johnny Just Come) had two umbrellas that he was supposed to give to me, but he bluntly refused. I asked politely, but he refused bluntly. I was ashamed of asking. Likewise, I even told him I had an exam to write, but he has this characteristic of not accepting anyone.

Not only that, but I entered the rain and was drenched.

As a JJC, he is not yet grounded and does not know the rules of the community. When you want to stop a bike or cab or Keke (rickshaw), you must not dip your hands in your pocket. I was watching this gentleman when he was along the road aiming to enter Keke. I immediately drew close to him and dipped my hands in my pockets. “Today, you are not going to leave this spot”, I said to myself.

He began to stop bikes, and they refused to stop. He waved at an incoming but empty Keke, but he refused to even stop, instead stopped in front of someone on the other side of the road. They were all carrying people but refused to carry him. I was surprised by what was happening. He looked at himself to be sure of why they were not waiting to carry him, but did not see anything bad. He did not go out and slept in hunger. Likewise, he later finds out that when someone dips their hands in their pocket or someone close to you does the same, no running vehicle would want to stop.

I was laughing and scored a 1:1 draw.

I was standing by the gate side and immediately received a dirty slap from behind. Likewise, I could not wait to say who did this and instead gave the person back a nonsense elbow. After turning, I noticed that it was my enemy. What!!! Why did you slap me? I asked with anger. You were supposed to ask before retaliating, he responded. He showed me his hands, which were filled up with blood. “I saw a mosquito on your neck and decided to help you kill it”, he said. Who cares, I have injured him in return.

I scored again 1:1 making 2:2.

Nigeria and electricity are something so annoying nowadays. Anywhere you see a ray of light, people always go to ask if they put on their generator. My phone was down, and I wanted to charge it at all costs. The only person who put the generator around is my neighbour. I was not ready to go to his house to charge, instead, I asked my younger one to take my phone to his house. He got there and gave him the phone. He never asked who owns the phone and immediately said, "There is no space”. What!… I went close to the door when he was outside and discovered that there were spaces to even charge 5 phones.

Our score is now 2:3.

I sat at the front side of the compound one fateful night. Beside the fence was a mini drainage. It was a little deep with dirty water that had been poured into it. This fateful night, he was coming from outside the compound, pressing his phone. He did not observe that he had got to the drainage side. I was watching him and was praying within me that he should fall inside the drainage. As my mind would predict, he fell and his phone sank into the dirty water. He got injured and even broke one of his legs. I pretended as if I did not see him but was laughing. I could not hold the laugh, but instead laughed it out.

The score is now 3:3 but to me, it was 5:3.

I bought three litres of fuel just to, just because of my neighbour. I overheard him saying he wanted to make an important call but had a flat battery. Just because of him, I bought the fuel and put it on my generator.

I was waiting for him to come but did not, instead send his girlfriend. She gave me her phone and my neighbour's phone. Instead of charging his phone, I plugged in his girlfriend's phone. When it was two hours later. She came for the phones. Her phone was fully charged and could not switch on his boyfriend's phone. She got to the house and discovered that his phone was not charged. That day, he was forced to have a face-off with me.

The score is now 4:3.

He came to meet with me and said, what have I done to you? Why did you hate me that much?
I responded, “I was about to miss my last paper just because of you. You refused to give me an umbrella, and I put you in mind”. He could not say a word and instead apologized.

No reaction, no reconciliation

It's a good way of scoring points. Your neighbor is somehow wicked. But maybe you did not understand him initially
