The Anger Management Class

While it's important; and in fact of immense importance that we're discouraging and fighting against the character of anger and the expressions, it's also important and noteworthy to mention that anger itself is part of the human emotions. Not just in some specific humans but with every human. As much as we get happy, and there are hormones responsible for that feeling or emotion, there are also those responsible for anger. And it's because of this that we have the experiences of people and ourselves getting angry.

So, yes, anger is one of those emotions. However, a deadly one. I guess that's why anything about it is rebuked because of the prevailing consequences in many situations. But as humans, we get angry, and dare I say that it's a part of human nature. Not ultimately putting away anger as a whole, but what we do with it or in it is the difference. Someone can't just come and slap me and I'll be all cheerful about it. Even if I tried, there's a level of discipline, growth and effort to make me behave like that. Still, it doesn't mean the feeling isn't there. I just subdued it.

This takes me to the anger management class, which was a class in the school of life that I had to sign up for. Was it worth it? Totally. For me, it had to take intentional effort to escape the temptation to easily get angry. Even if I won't lash it out on somebody, but the vulnerability-that's what I consider it-to get angry at the slightest doesn't seem healthy to me. Or perhaps, my reactions rather, since the actions or words that could provoke my emotions sometimes get to me, my response is the difference.

One of the lessons in my anger management class sessions is to learn to stay silent, and not to respond immediately to everything that triggers my emotions in the way of anger. What I learnt was that, the very act of responding immediately to every trigger of anger is unhealthy and most times, regrettable. I've done it. Those times that I took little to no time to respond to what was an angry moment had me regretting and wishing I'd have probably done otherwise, maybe just breathing in deeply and then out.

I can't take away the reality that I get angry and react in some situations. How to get down from that altitude of anger is another thing in this case. Though I might not be overreacting as it may seem, calming down doesn't look all that easy. It could involve my leaving the scene or staying away from the source, which somehow eases things out. Calming down isn't always that easy, but it's a possible necessity, and I don't need to have people hold me back before I calm down. I've learnt in the anger management class to do well to never let an angry situation linger. “Do not let the sun go down while you're still angry.”

Thank you for reading through!

This post is exactly beautiful because you didn't only start by acknowledging anger as a valid human emotion, you also highlighted some valuable ways of responding to it. That is wisdom and I believe if everyone managed their anger this way, the world will be a better place. They too

Yesh, I figured anger could have been misunderstood or somehow erased as a valid human emotion. Thank you very much for ssying that. I appreciate.

Anger is a part of us as humans and we cannot do away with it completely, we just have to make sure it does not land is in trouble.
