An armed population is a polite population. This is true overall. There are exceptions and they are not common. The fact those exceptions are not the norm is why people talk about them so much. The talking about the exceptions a lot makes people think that exception was the norm.

How many other things are we currently treating as the normal thing that we must fight which in reality are the unusual and/or exceptional?

Do you talk for years about things that happened to you on a normal ordinary day?

Do you remember all of your normal ordinary days?

I know I don't.

I also know if the tales I did remember in my life and that I talk to people about were NORMAL then the world would be a very unusual place.

Should we be passing laws based upon the unusual and exceptional?

Should we be treating the unusual and exceptional as though it is the common and the norm?

I say no.

Yes, very true what you say about the exceptions and the common.

The best stories of my life were exceptional and they only happen on a rare basis. Yet when I want to share them, I have to use a style of exaggeration, the only form where people listen to you.

I can say "once on vacation we saved some peoples lives" and then ask "what it will be for dinner." Hardly I would get any attention. LOL

Also, the art of irritation works, like with your sentence that "an armed population is a polite population", for usually the brain doesn't connect politeness with firearms.
