How To Prepare One of .y Favorite Native Meal(Otomboro)

I love to cook and I'm So happy to share this here, hope it'd be of help to you.

For today,
Here's a meal you can substitute Ekpang Nkukwo with, it's known as Otomboro.
This meal is made from unripe bananas skillfully prepared, the difference between Otomboro and Ekpang Nkukwo is that:

  • It's main ingredient is unripe banana while that if Ekpang Nkukwo is the mixture ofcocoyam and water yam.
  • Unlike the Ekpang Nkukwo that involves wrapping the mixture with either a cocoyam leaf(mfang íkpoñ) or potatoe leaf(ediam), Otomboro doesn't require wrapping.
  • Otomboro is cooked normally while Ekpang Nkukwo require you to boil hot water into the pot of wrapped mixture in order for the mixture to shrink and hold.

These are the three outstanding differences between the two.

My Ingredients
Unripe banana
Periwinkle
Seasoning cubes
Kpomo
Smoked fish
Crayfish
Salt
Pepper
Onions
Beef
Stock fish
Scent leaf
Palm oil
Water

These are the ingredients I used to make this particular meal, it is a flexible meal, you can choose to add chicken or any kind of obstacles like snail, crab, fresh crayfish etc.

First of I washed my periwinkle, kpomo, beef, stockfish and smoked fish properly and seasoned it to taste then steamed.

After that I peeled my unripe banana, washed and crated it.

When I was done, in a pot I poured in some water(according to the quantity of your unripe banana) since mine wasn't that much I poured in three big cups of water into a pot, added some seasoning cubes, salt, grounded crayfish, pepper and onions,stirred and tasted till it has a balanced taste because adding water in between or any other Ingredients is okay but risky as it alters the taste and uniqueness of the meal. Cover and allow to boil.

When it started boiling, I began cutting in the crated unripe banana into the pot in small sizes like a regular icecube size, I continued until the whole Mixture was exhausted and all in the pot then I poured in my steamed meat and all that, stirred and tasted.

I didn't add anything else because I was okay with the taste then I added my palm oil, exactly 7 minutes later I added scent leaf and food is ready.
