RE: Winter Lakes In The Nanhaizi Park

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

The park has so many lakes, and these are so large. But due to the wintertime, the water level is severely lower, so that half of the space is dried, and the lake bed is visible, covered with grass, which is brown in color. The first thing I noticed is that there are no mountain views in this vast plain area of the city as the southern region has no mountains comparing the northern section of the Beijing municipality.

Dear @tanzil2024 !
Hassan!
Since ancient times, the northern part of Beijing has been frequently invaded by the Mongols and Manchus, so the mountain range served as a natural defense line.

So, East Asian historians like me speculate that the reason the Chinese built Beijing was to prevent invasions by the Manchus and the Mongols!

I believe that the mountain ranges north of Beijing were a defensive line against invasion by the Mongols and Manchurians!

Yeah, it is a great defense for Beijing as a whole, northern Beijing is full of so many mountain ranges.
