Today I want to share a bit about a rather interesting and tiring activity: the process of cleaning and collecting shellfish caught from the seashore. In this photo, you can see a pile of shellfish that have been partially cleaned and are ready for further processing. This is all done manually with simple tools like a small knife and a stone anvil, as seen on this blue mat.

The shells are initially collected from the beach at low tide. They are usually attached to rocks, wood, or even the mud. After being collected, the next step is to clean them one by one to separate the empty shells from the full ones. This process is time-consuming and quite tiring, but the results are well worth it, as the fresh shellfish meat has a savory, sea-like flavor that is delicious when cooked with simple spices.

Clams can also be processed in a variety of ways, from boiling and frying to adding to chili sauce or shellfish satay. Furthermore, the shells are sometimes used for handicrafts or as a natural fertilizer. This simple process demonstrates how coastal life still relies heavily on marine resources and the patient hands of skilled workers.

For me personally, activities like this aren't just about finding food, but also about preserving traditions and appreciating the hard work that goes into every seafood dish we enjoy. The sound of the ocean, the distinctive salty aroma, and the simplicity of the tools, as seen in this picture, are part of a meaningful life story. 🌊🦪
