A new story of Godhra Ghat beyond the boat days

A great story of the isolation of the past and the easy communication of today is hidden in this familiar ghat of ours. Today I went to our familiar and evergreen place, Godhra Ghat. It is surprising to think of how difficult it was to travel through this ghat at one time. The river stood as a huge wall between the two villages. The only hope for the people of the village to come to this side from the other side was some small wooden boats.

When I remember those days, the picture of the people waiting still comes to mind. If there was a little storm or rain or at night, crossing the river was a name of extreme terror. People could not go to the other side, even if they wanted to, for medical treatment or for urgent needs. The kinship and friendship of people on both sides of the river depended on the schedule of that boat. This river crossing was a story of great struggle in the daily life of people.

Over time, a huge change has occurred there, like changing a fairy tale. Today, a beautiful bridge stands there with its head held high. The bridge built over the river that once kept people apart has now connected people on both sides in a bond of love. Now, there is no need to wait for hours for a boat at the ghat. The entire picture of rural life has changed since the bridge was built.

Now, people from two villages can easily communicate with each other at any time. Business, farming, or children's education has become much easier now. A shadow of relief can now be seen on the faces of the villagers. This bridge is not just a structure of cement and rods; it is actually a bridge to fulfill the dreams of thousands of people. Seeing this new look of Godhra Ghat, my mind was filled with a strange peace. It is truly a great feeling to witness this simple but beautiful change in rural life.
