On the one hand, it's said that today, it's all crap, and from a certain perspective, that's true. Triple-A films haven't looked this bad in a long time. They also say it's harder to break through due to the overabundance of content (I agree), but there's another side to that coin. I don't know if this is the best time for original ideas, but it's certainly one of the best. Marketing, of course, also comes into play. Plenty of great artists haven't broken through because of this barrier. Unfortunately, it's still the case that for every 10 outstanding ideas, we have hundreds of very good ones, thousands of good ones, tens, if not hundreds, of mediocre ones, and a slew of productions of questionable quality. The proportions can change; I've just given them as an example. Nevertheless, it's still the case that we have many losers and only a handful truly win. Well, maybe a few handfuls now, given the number of players on the market... But the list of losers is growing proportionally.
I didn't plan such an introduction; it was supposed to be shorter, but I got carried away. First there was Obsession, which stayed in theaters as long as people watched it. Then Nolan's Odyssey – supposedly a good film, widely praised outside of the toxic grifters and whiners. I'm not saying that if you don't like it, you're bad. However, to quote Oskar Rogowski from the Ending Credits: "This film succeeded in every measurable, objective aspect. You can be angry, but those are the facts. And I say this as someone who cries with laughter every time I see Helen of Troy in Neon Genesis xDD (the actress is at least good, but she's a terrible choice for this film).
Now there's Spider-Man, who farms aura like Broly from DBS and will probably crush the box office leaders, or at least everything points to it. But there's a film that crushes it in one aspect, like Broly's Whis (who moments earlier devastated Goku and Vegeta at full power without breaking a sweat).
A Chinese teenager had a dream. The young man wanted to make his own film, so his mother taught herself 3D graphics in five years (according to sources). She pulled together everything, bought a microphone and other equipment, and together with her son, created a film with a budget of around $1,000. The internet is talking about $200, but I don't think anyone believes that – let's be serious, ALL THE DECISIONATE EQUIPMENT (even if it's on sale and slightly lower quality, but meets certain standards) doesn't cost $200. A thousand sounds reasonable, albeit frugal.
The film looks exactly like a $1,000 production should, which is... absurdly poor, and I mean that very mildly. I'd genuinely enjoy watching AI Slop more than this. The footage from Chinese cinemas, where we hear laughter, is proof of that. But so what? If this woman and her son don't waste their money on garbage, his children, and her grandchildren, will reap the benefits. Maybe even his grandchildren. Especially now, with the growing trend of slandering AI-created products. They just need to capitalize on this film's success and create some nonsense associated with the Niu Lai trademark. Or they can allow others to create it, and they themselves will simply sign further consents.
Z jednej strony mówi się, że dzisiaj powstaje sam syf i patrząc z pewnej perspektywy, będzie to prawda. Filmy Triple A od dawna nie prezentowały się tak fatalnie. Tak samo mówi się, że trudniej jest się przebić z uwagi na nadmiar contentu (sam tak uważam), jest jednak druga strona tego medalu. Nie wiem czy to najlepszy czas dla oryginalnych pomysłów, ale na pewno jest jednym z lepszych. Dochodzi do tego jeszcze marketing, rzecz oczywista. Mnóstwo świetnych artystów nie przebiło się z powodu tej bariery. Niestety ciągle jest tak, że na 10 wybitnych pomysłów, mamy setki bardzo dobrych, tysiące dobrych, dziesiątki jeśli nie setki tysięcy przeciętniaków i masę produkcji wątpliwej jakości. Proporcje mogą się zmieniać, podałem je tylko w formie przykładu. Niemniej ciągle jest tak, że mamy wielu przegranych i tylko garstka naprawdę wygrywa. No, teraz może kilka garści z uwagi na ilość podmiotów na rynku... Tylko że tak samo proporcjonalnie rośnie lista przegranych.
Nie planowałem takiego wstępu, miał być krótszy, ale poniosła mnie wena. Najpierw była Obsesja, która siedziala tak długo w kinie, jak długo oglądali ją ludzie. Potem Odyseja Nolana - podobno dobry film, powszechnie chwalony poza środowiskiem toksycznych grifterów i marud. Nie mówię, że jak Ci się nie podoba ten film, to jesteś zły. Niemniej cytując Oskara Rogowskiego z Napisy Końcowe - Ten film osiągnął sukces w każdym mierzalnym, obiektywnym aspekcie. Możesz się wkurzać, ale takie są fakty. I mówię to jako ktoś, kto płacze ze śmiechu za każdym razem jak widzi Neon Genesis Helenę Trojańską xDD (aktorka co najmniej dobra, ale fatalnie dobrana do tego filmu). Teraz jest Spiderman, który farmi aurę niczym Broly z DBS i prawdopodobnie zmasakruje liderów Box-Office, a przynajmniej wszystko na to wskazuje. Ale jest film, który w jednym aspekcie miażdży go, jak Whis Broly'ego (który chwilę wcześniej zdewastował Goku i Vegetę full power, nawet się przy tym nie pocąc).
Pewien Chiński nastolatek miał marzenie. Młodzian chciał zrobić swój film, więc mama nauczyła się grafiki 3D w pięć lat (tak twierdzą źródła). Ogarnęła wszystko, kupiła mikrofon, resztę sprzętu i wraz z synem, stworzyli film, którego budżet wyniósł około 1k dolarów. W internecie mówi się o 200, ale chyba nikt w to nie wierzy - no bądźmy poważni, CAŁY PORZĄDNY SPRZĘT (nawet jeśli na promocji i nieco gorszy jakościowo, ale spełniający jakieś standardy), to nie 200 dolarów. Tysiąc już brzmi sensownie, choć oszczędnie.
Film wygląda tak jak powinna wyglądać produkcja za 1k dolarów, czyli... absurdalnie słabo i mówię to naprawdę delikatnie. Autentycznie przyjemniej byłoby mi oglądać AI Slop niż to. Nagrania z Chińskich kin, w których słyszymy śmiechy są tego dowodem. Tylko że co z tego? Jeśli ta Pani i jej syn nie zmarnotrawią kasy na śmieci, to jego dzieci, a jej wnuki, będą z tego czerpać profity. Może nawet jego wnuki. Tym bardziej teraz, gdy rozprzestrzenia się moda na opluwanie rzeczy stworzonych przez AI. Wystarczy tylko, że skapitalizują sukces tego filmu i będą tworzyli jakieś bzdury związane trademarkiem Niu Lai. Albo pozwolą innym je tworzyć, a sami będą jedynie podpisywali kolejne zgody.
Colour me intrigued. I'll definitely be adding it to the watch list.
