A story of a handful of livelihoods.

Today, on my way back from office, in the intense heat of the day, I saw a different scene on the roadside. The road was crowded with rickshaws and vans, the sun was high above my head, and a peddler was sitting with his head tucked in a thin shade below. How much the intensity of the heat had exhausted his body and mind is clear from his posture. He may have chosen this place in search of some relief while walking slowly with his tired body. His van, which is kept next to him and is his only source of livelihood, is lined with stalls of various products.

This van may be the only way for him to run his family. It has biscuits, chips, chocolates and various small food items. Maybe he wants to change his fate through this work after coming from a village to a provincial town. Although his lifestyle is very simple, his dreams may be very big.

This small rest in the crowd of rickshaws and vans is a symbol of his struggle and patience. In this busy life of the city, many others like him are struggling to survive. The life stories of people like them may be unknown to us, but their struggle keeps society moving. This small incident reminds me that every human life has a story. Every story teaches us some lesson in our lives. Many people like this hawker make our lives easier by shedding their sweat. We may not always remember their contribution, but their contribution is undeniable.
