Mathematics as an Amazing but Crazy Subject

Mathematics is one of the subjects mostly despised by students all around the world. This may be a result of its nature, which is calculations.

Mathematics is divided into different areas, such as arithmetic, geometry, algebra, trigonometry, etc. Funny enough, some tutors don't like teaching students some areas of mathematics as a result of its complexity, difficulties, and so on.

When I was in Junior secondary school, my experience with mathematics and the tutor wasn't fun at all. It was quite embarrassing. Aside from the fact that we dislike mathematics periods, we don't like seeing my mathematics tutor around.

He had an unnecessary interest in the average students in the class. He always asked questions that made us look like fools before the class, and when that was too much we tagged him "The Savage".

Senior Secondary school level was a tug of war. Whenever I was to solve a mathematics question on the board, what always came to my mind was "Holler disappear to avoid this embarrassment". I would stand in front of the board looking so dull, shaking, and sweating profusely without knowing what to write.

The following are the aspects of mathematics I despised attempting with passion. These aspect has made me look like an unserious element before the class and also turned me into a laughing stock before my classmates while in college, They are:

  • PROBLEM 1(RATIO):- If it takes 4 boys 6 days to clear a piece of land, how long will it take 10 boys?

MY IMAGINATION AND SOLUTION: Since 4 boys had already cleared the piece of land, there would be nothing left for 10 boys to clear, so therefore, my answer will be zero(0) or nothing to clear.

  • PROBLEM 2(WORD PROBLEMS):- Four years ago, John's age was twice that of his father's. The sum of their ages was 36. What will John be in the next 2 years?

MY IMAGINATION AND SOLUTION: I am not related to John and there is no way I could have an idea of his age, so therefore my answer is no idea.

  • PROBLEM 3(CIRCLE THEOREMS):- Proof that the angle at the Center of the Circle Is Twice The Angle at the Circumference.

MY IMAGINATION AND SOLUTION: I always find it difficult to digest this and my amazing answer is always no idea.

  • PROBLEM 4(BEARINGS AND DISTANCES):- An airplane travels 6km from airport X to airport Y on a bearing of 065° and thereafter 13km on a bearing of 136°.what is the distance and the bearing of the airplane from airport X?

MY IMAGINATION AND SOLUTION: How on earth do you expect me to know all of them while sitting in class? Flying alongside the airplane would have provided an accurate answer, so therefore my answer is no idea.

  • PROBLEM 5(EVERYDAY ARITHMETIC):- By selling an article for #756, I made a profit of 26%. What should be the selling price to make a profit of 34%?

MY IMAGINATION AND SOLUTION: I did not sell any items in the first place, so, where are the profits coming from? My answer: I did not sell any items nor did I make any profits.

In conclusion, mathematics can be crazy but also interesting for those who have passion for it.
