My Primary School Days

Holler is an intelligent but naughty student who started his primary school education at Nitel Staff School, a Federal Government-owned School. I love everything about the school because it has a conducive learning environment, an amazing garden for extracurricular activities, free lunch, etc

What gave my younger sister and I a setback was that the school was pretty far from home, it was about 29km from my place of residence. Apart from the fact that we always missed school, we always arrived at school very late. There are cases when two periods will have been over before we get to school and as a result, my dad decided to move us to a state government-owned school

My new school is the complete opposite of my formal school. The pupils were almost uncountable. Each class comprises nothing less than 80 to 100 pupils. The arrangement in the school is akin to survival of the fittest.

Each student is meant to come with his/her chair and table, any student that did come with his or her table and chair at the point of entry will sit on the floor. The headmaster said the pupils had damaged 75% of chairs and tables provided by the Government and as a result, everyone is expected to come with his or her stuff

I was registered in Primary 2D while my sister was registered in Primary 1F. Each class has nothing less than A to J series(that is primary 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E, 1F, 1G, etc.)and each class has nothing less than 80 pupils.

The learning process was rigorous and if a student's sit is placed at the back of the class, there is 99% of not hearing what the teacher is teaching

The issue started when my sister who was registered in primary 1F could not find her class anymore, she kept sitting in different primary 1 series for about three weeks and as a result, my dad came to the conclusion that the arrangement in this type of school is involved and crazy.

My sister was withdrawn and transferred to a private primary school, why I remain a bonafide student of the school. Everything was rough and tough, my classmate or a senior student would collect my food allowance from me. I went on an empty stomach for weeks. I could recall vividly that there was this big and tall girl in my class, she was tagged "Aunty" because you dare not call her by her name. She was fond of collecting my writing materials from me and gave me severe warning not to inform my class teacher.

Pupils kept taking advantage of me for about 3 good weeks and nobody was saying anything. My being rugged and crazy started when a senior student stole my chair and table with my name boldly written all over it. I was able to locate it but the senior student had scraped off my name written on it with a blade and wrote his name on it. I reported to authorities and their reply was heartbroken, one of them said if you are too stupid, foolish, and sluggish in here, your fellow students will keep taking advantage of you, he said that to me and still canned me for coming to report a case involving a lost or stolen chair and table.

I cried so hard and no teacher was ready to hear me out, I have complained about my food allowance being collected daily, my writing material being taken from me daily, my bag stolen with books in it, and now my table and chair are gone and no one of the teachers Is ready to listen to me, I then concluded that being soft-hearted won't take me far since I still have about four years to graduate, so I said to myself "holler you are to be super crazy to survive in here and that was how everything started.

The first stunt I pulled was to fight with "Aunty" the she-devil in my class. Although she beat the hell out of me but I managed to punch her in the face and hit her with a broken chair, and ever since that very day, she stopped bullying me. The incident was so popular that I now have some sets of students who want to hobnob with me, and that was how the story changed.

During those days I found something interesting which I called "the ink transfusion ".what I always do is that, I normally transfuse the ink in their pen into mine and then return the pen to the rightful owner, after using the pen for a while, the ink in the pen will dry off and the pen will stop writing.

In conclusion, state government-owned schools have improved over the years, and the stubborn students in the school, including myself have "turned a new leaf" for our betterment.

Terrible and sad reality not only in government schools, but also in those where teachers, out of annoyance or fear, do not provide discipline and character.
Applying the law of the strongest has always been the solution, although it is not the most adequate.

Exactly and as a matter of fact the teachers had bad attitudes to work, nonchalant behavior amongst others.

Applying the law of the strongest had been the other of the day
