The Children's Day Saga

I was in the university hostel brooked and soliloquizing, it's going to take a couple of days for the semester to run off. While lying down on my sagging bed, I heard someone banging on the door, out of frustration and anger, I shouted, Do you want to break down the door? Who goes there? And the person replied it's me your friend John.

Johny Johny, it's quiet and age, to what do I hold this August visit? He replied and said, there was a day work opening somewhere close, just work and get paid. I yelled, Work and get paid? There you go again, am not in for your creepy work openings.

The last time I set my eyes on you, was when you came and invited me for a job opening at the Zoo, and the job description was simple, "clean the lion's cage". I tried giving it a try but my instincts said to me "Hey dumb fool isn't that a suicide mission?" I said to myself No, I can do this, and my instincts were like "How about being eaten by a Lion". My heart skipped a beat, so I said to John, I won't be available for such an opening.

This you are here again, is there an opening at the sea? so that you can get me fed to the sharks. John laughed and said no that the opening he brought this time was cool, just put on a costume, dance and try to be funny, that's all my friend. I sit upright and say "Are you kidding me? "

I told him I was very much interested, so I asked, when are we going? He said now. I quickly dashed into the bathroom like the Flash and came out after some seconds. John screamed haha, don't tell me you are done taking your bath? I replied it is my bath and not yours.

We arrived at the venue a bit late, everywhere was filled up with kids, I saw some guys in costumes, they were waving their hands and getting ready for the show. John and I headed towards the dressing room, on getting to the dressing room, we saw just two costumes left, John quickly grabbed that of a Spiderman, and at that time I was left with that of Tinky-winky (one of the Teletubbies characters). It was so heavy but I had no choice but to drag it and put it on.

We quickly rushed out to join others, The sun was scorching and I was sweating profusely. After dancing for about two hours, I started feeling weak and dizzy. While others were having fun, I was busy sweating like a Christmas goat, I could not hold it anymore, I danced towards John and whispered into his ears, Brother this stuff is killing me, I wanna take it off, He said Take it off and forget about your wage for the day, the thought that I was broke came to my mind, I had to continue dancing.

My dancing steps were abnormal, I was struggling and staggering not to fall off, but on the other hand, the kids enjoyed every bit of it, They loved my dying moves, they were dancing around me and thought I was having fun as well, they were singing tinky-winky, tinky-winky.

In order not to fall off, I sat down on the ground and I was waving my hands, The kids replicated everything I did. I told myself Mr. Tinky-winky you are doomed today.

After some minutes, I could not take it anymore, I had to crawl down to where John was, I begged him to keep the kids busy so that I could go and have some rest. I rested for hours. When the program came to an end, I was paid and as well given a huge bonus.

While ironically appreciating John for what he made me pass through for the day, one of the organizers walked up to me and say Tinky-winky man, your performance was amazing, that was superb of you, I started crying and the man was like, Hope all is well? I said all is well. He concluded by saying, next year the costume will be reserved for me, I said ok and he left.

The experience was one of a kind.
