Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Battlefield Breakdowns!
Greetings to all Splinterlands players! This week's Community Engagement Challenge is about Battlefield Breakdowns. There is a new ruleset in Splinterlands called Global Warming. All units will have the Burning status at the start of the combat. This ruleset is similar to Noxious Fumes and Earthquake where the strategy to win is to outlast your opponent. I have a some games where I played the new ruleset and they ended in draws because our my units and my opponent's units both die from the effects of burning.
Water Against Water Fight
In my previous post, I highlighted how easy it is to use Magic teams in battles. The available elements were Fire and Water and I think Water will be better because they do a lot of damage so I used them again in here but my opponent also chose the same element.
My team was composed of the following units:
New Beluroc Aegis was chosen as my tank. He has five life and three armor. Maybe Port Guardian was better since it has more health to meet the burning damage. I chose Beluroc because of his Taunt skill since I didn't want the opponent's Vengeful Monk to target my low health mages.
Vengeful Monk is a good all around unit. He can attack from any position and has enough life.
Great Bear Druid does two attacks including magic. He also has six life to make him last longer against burning.
Saltwater Mage is my key card. She has two magic attacks and is not available in the Campaign Mode. I only got her from the reward chests.
Lunaki Howler attacks with magic and has four life. He is a regular card in my team when I use the Water element.
Frostguard Warrior has two ranged attacks. I chose this over magic units because he has more health.
This is more or less the team I use with the Water element. Often I use the Port Guardian as my tank and the Water-Logged Wizard instead of Frostguard Warrior.
The opponent team has a higher level archon and units so his team has more health overall. My team does more damage because of my Saltwater Mage. We have our advantages so the game ended in a draw.

Earth Against Earth
In survival rulesets like Noxious Fumes, Earthquake and now Global Warming, the team I like to use is the Earth element. This is because the archon grants one life to the team, also it has a Tank with Healing skill and there are a lot of units with high health.
My team was composed of the following units:
Dread Tafarian is my tank. He was the first unit we got in the Campaign Mode. He has healing skill that in necessary for survivability in this game.
Great Bear Druid a great all around unit. He has two attacks and has six life.
Time Bandit I usually choose this unit in survival rulesets because he has seven life.
Glimmermancer is another key card. This card is also not available in Campaign Mode but can only be acquired from reward chests. The opponent also has this card so this does not give me an advantage.
Wilhemdale Deputy has two ranged attack and five life. This card gave me the advantage in this game.
Kicking Roc has three ranged attack and five life.
My team is composed of high attacks but also high health. The opponent team is also Earth element and almost the same team composition but he chose New Beluroc Aegis instead of Wilhemdale Deputy. I think this was a mistake because they both have five life but Wilhemdale Deputy attacks while Beluroc Aegis has Taunt. The extra attacking unit gave me the advantage in this game and I won it convincingly.
