The Owls Are Not What They Seem?

There is an opinion that an owl is the smartest bird and almost one of the smartest living creatures, and if it does not reach the level of a human, that it left dolphins, chimpanzees and other "famous smarties" far behind. Actually it is not. Ornithologists are tired of repeating that, on the contrary, the owl does not shine with intelligence, and perhaps even it should be attributed to the most stupid birds. However, peer review is of little concern to ordinary people, a simple person wants to believe that this wide muzzle with large round eyes is a sign that the owl has lived a lot and seen a lot in its lifetime, has managed to gain outstanding intelligence.

Every time I think about it, I remember about my university lecturer in "Middle Ages and Renaissance" literature. He was the most educated man with an outlook as wide as the whole universe. He could lecture on anything (including, I think, string theory), but at the same time he looked so helpless that he wanted to hug and stroke him. We loved this teacher very much, but at the same time we joked that, with all his knowledge, he was not able to make a sandwich or pour himself tea. For some reason, everyday helplessness and the high intellect did not just coexist in our consciousness, but were integral parts of each other, in fact, two sides of the same coin.

Isn't that why the image of an owl as a creature "not of this world" seems to us evidence of a great mind? As if the intellect as such and the "everyday mind" are incompatible. In fact, this is of course not the case. Smart people quite often turn out to be quite arranged in life.
And yet, the character of the "nutty professor" in popular culture is unusually strong, isn't it.
