Buying 24 Rising Star Packs for $2

Bear Markets Make You Rich

Crypto games are probably the farthest end of the risk curve and in this risk off environment they've shown themselves to be terrible investments. Bu if you abide by the now popular maxim that bull markets make you money but bear markets make you rich, there's no better time to be buying in.

One game I just keep adding to is Rising Star. The team just keeps tinkering with the economy in ways I find to be potentially interesting later on. So I play my daily millionaire mission at the very least and pick up my 12 packs every 9 or 10 days.

Starbits Are Cheap

Today though I was looking at the starbits market and realized it's taken a very big hit again. In fact, it's so low that I got 200k starbits for just 6 hive using the LP. That's $2.10! And it's enough to buy two of the 12 pack deals.

Now, I have a feeling what's going to happen soon is that they are going to increase the starbits price of packs. Especially as they just pulled back on handing out new millionaire cards. The only way to properly nerf the payout there is to increase the pack price.

Price Increases?

One of the things about Rising star is that they don't limit the number of packs. They put out new cards every month regardless. More packs sold just means they have bigger runs of the cards. That means as prices of starbits go down, the price of packs goes down too. And more packs sold just saturate the card market.

You might be saying yes but in order for more people to buy those packs they will have to take the starbits off the market which will send prices higher and solve itself.

And this is true. But one of the mechanics of the game is the more cards people have, the more starbits get paid out to the players that own them for doing the same missions. This is just starbit inflation. At some point, the only thing to do is to raise prices in order to keep up or change the structure or pack sales or starbit issuance. The easiest thing to do is raise prices.

The 24-Pack Deal

Also, the 24-pack deal right now they have is for 100 hive. While it does come with a special card, that card doesn't come close to the 94 hive difference between just buying them for starbits.

So anyway, long story short, I picked up 200k starbits for 6 hive and went to trade them for packs. Packs make me itchy so I opened them all immediately. Was it worth it? I mean besides a tourbus, I didn't get anything noteworthy but when you consider I just added 72 new cards to my deck for just $2.10, I'd say yes. It was worth it.

Here's my before stats:

Here's my after stats:

Now excuse me while I go buy some more packs before they raise the pack prices.
