RIsing Star: My Progress: Older Cards Looking More Rare

avatar

Web 3.0 = Web 1.07.jpg

If you're unaware, Rising Star puts out new cards on the 1st of each month.

Last month in the closing days they'd sold so many packs the cards were running out and they had to add in generic fan/skill boosters to close the month.

They promised to make adjustments in hopes this never happened again and as I opened packs today, I noticed they kept their word.

Last month, the common "People" cards were at 16k mints. That was already high since a few months earlier they were at 8k.

This month they've moved it up to 25k.

WHy? I think its two reasons.

First, the game is growing in popularity all the time and this means more pack buying.

Second, the game now incentivizes its higher ranked players to buy cards constantly if they want to take advantage of the most profitable parts of the game.

Basically, they are pushing players to reinvest their profit into game assets. I think this is brilliant and we are beginning to see it pay off if you look at both pack sales and the increase in card values.

The problem is that the increase in values is in starbits, while starbits are crashing in value.

In fact, the third reason they are burning through packs so fast is because it costs 100k starbits to buy 12 packs, and thats only about 10 hive. If you believe the game has a future, this is probably a great time to load up.

What's most interesting to me though is that the game just printed its 100th unique common people card and its a run of 25k but if you look back, the first 71 cards in the series had between 3500 and 6000 prints.

At this rate, those cards are starting to look rare and I'd imagine the market for these out of print cards could really pick up.

Unlike Splinterlands, each card you have in Rising Star means something to the game. Even if they are duplicates they matter. This is particularly true with fan and skill cards which you need more of every time you run the millionaire mission.

Curious what you all think about these "older" cards. As the prints get so much bigger, do you think the lower print cards become more in demand?

On to the purpose of this post. I opened 12 more packs from millionaire rewards. Let's take a look.

So how'd I do? I've had more exciting pack openings for sure but still not too bad.

1465 new fans = 68 starbits per fan vs 59 buying cards
920 new skill = 108 starbits per skill vs 39 buying cards

Neither of these are great. As fan and skill points are coming down from their peak from last month, it does seem like we are moving back to a place where its cheaper to buy fans and skill from packs. This is the natural order of things since there's always a premium for the joy, mystery, and chance of opening packs that usually means packs cost more.

Since in this case I didn't just get fans and skill but also picked up some instruments, it's still pretty close for overall value.

The millionaire grind continues on for me I guess but I think I'll be concentrating my resources on whatever cheap cards I can find that are out of print. I'll get back to pack buying next month probably.

oh haha. It's really not that interesting. It's an Algorand NFT. Most of my other socials focus more on that stuff so I use it for twitter and discord. I just moved it over here because I'm starting to interact more with hive stuff on discord. Continuity.

This NFT project has been quite profitable for me though. Bought a bunch of these for about 1000 algorand. Just sold two of them for 750 and I have 16 more that are all worth more than those. The one I'm using here is the most valuable one and its worth about 2000 algorand now.

Where's your hive punk !LOL
