Starbits Millionaire and Buying Uniques
So, I finally picked up the Starbits Millionaire card!
I actually got it four days ago now so I've run the Millionaire Mission 4 times and collected my 40k starbits which the plan was to dutifully save up until I got to 100k and then buy 12 packs.
I know its not the most efficient way to go about building my fans and skill but I like packs and even though I've opened many of them, I've still never gotten a rare or legendary card so I feel like the odds have to go in my favor eventually with this.
That's not what I've done though.
Honestly I have very little idea what I'm doing in this game and I don't care. What I do care about is completing collections. I just like to do it. If something is greyed out I want it to not be greyed out anymore. I'm a sucker.
So my first 40k starbits have been spent buying the cheapest "unique" cards I can find. SO far I think I've managed to add in 46 cards I didn't have. Some still in print and some out of print.
Most of these cards don't really help my stats at all but again, I don't really care that much about playing the game efficiently. I want to complete my collection and there was some low hanging fruit. Soon I'll have to play more efficiently if I want to be able to afford to continue completing my collection but not yet!
Also it really seems like this is what the devs want you to do anyway. They have that whole daily hive prize pool thing that pushes unique cards as the biggest factor.
I never expect to get all the way up there to where I'm collecting any of the reward at all since you have to be like top 50 to get anything but that won't stop me from build the collection.
I've also noticed that some of these early common cards are becoming quite expensive and I doubt they are going to go lower so its a good investment I think.

BTW, if you haven't seen it yet. @foxon has built a marketplace for Rising Star and its the best way I've found to buy new cards. I've been using the unique filter to buy the cards I don't have. It connects to your wallet and gives you a list of the cheapest listing of each of the cards you don't have and then it puts those in order of the cheapest ones for you to buy.
There are also filters to give show you the cheapest skill or fan cards based on starbits per unit. It's a great tool.

Congrats on getting there. I have done 31 or so. I saved up and bought my first 12 packs for 100,000 starbits and it was underwhelming. I am just going to buy rare fan cards each day as long as I'm in profit on the mission. Looks like it is around 7,000 starbits to make 10,000 starbits right now.
I will also run a guitar lesson right after my millionaire mission each day to load up on skill.
This may change but for at least week one of the changes I'm going to try it out.

Solid strategy. Packs are always about that chance for greatness and the fun of opening them. Statistically they aren't worth it but I still buy them.
The good thing though is that all those cards your buying for 7000 should just keep going up in value. I noticed the fan cards jumped after they announced the change.

Damn it, I was so motivated to get to level 50 when I began but now I'm at level 33 it seems as far away as ever.
After having picked up a few cards to help, I'm just doing guitar lesson after guitar lesson to try and hit level 50.

Yeah it seemed like it took forever to get to 50. Once I picked up some pizza boxes and then some birthday cake I stopped running out of energy and then I just kept putting on short missions and the occasional guitar lesson. It went a lot faster.
What's your username in the game. I'll send you a birthday cake. I have 3 and I never need that many. You can use it to refill your energy once every 12 hours.

If you work your way up the ranks, those unique card purchases will be rather valuable! I will occasionally accept slightly less optimal card picks if I know I'm getting my 1st copy of that card. The collector's mindset is a difficult itch to ignore ;)

I don't really think I'll ever get up there to compete with the foxons adn clove71s but this is a great way for me to start picking up more out of print cards while they are still in reach/ Some of them are already far above what I'd be willing to pay for them.

Its a solid game imo. I stack 100k bits at a time now and get the 12 packs deal. Some bits i sell in between if decent hive value but hive value has taken a tumble ever since they announced the milly card changes. With hive price rebounding too, bits value is little less.

I appreciate the drop in value. It made it easy for me to get in. I really think its a good change for the game overall. My one complaint about the game is that you can't delegate your assets. I went to send someone a birthday cake and found out it could get me banned. Not really in the spirit of the blockchain I'd say and that could come back to bite them. Still I think the way they are running the economy (besides that) is solid and will pay dividends later.

ya dont send nfts OR starbits, they track that also so people dont multi account and feed 1. Best bet is to give people non rising star nft or game asset, like hive for example, let them swap it to swap.hive and buy what they choose, give them your guidance, I learned a lot from reading and also a lot from @foxon

I would define my Rising Star carrer in two stages. 1st stage without Millionaires card and 2nd stage with Millionaires card :-). It's definitely a big change to earn 10k per day from this mission. Since I first played it, I have been saving to buy 12 packs whenever possible. I think it's a good strategy to buy unique cards since it will allow you to climb in the ranking. I realized however that the most profitable was to buy musician cards with balanced frans and skills. It's the number of fans you have that makes your income per mission grow and the skills are there to prevent ego from decreasing your gains.
