Seven questions asked and answered.

Utilizing the Case Study present in Chapter 13 on “How People Change” as well as the entire book of Philippians in the New Testament, I shall do my best in answering the seven questions present in the chapter.

1a: What is Paul’s situation?
During the writing of Philipppians, Paul had been imprisoned by the Romans with no particular thanks to the prosicution of the Jews. This ultimately was a blessing in disguise as now he had the time to sit down and use his imprisonment as a way to advance the gospel.

1b: What is your situation?
This one is a bit hard for me to answer, but if I were to give one, I’d say that I have a fairly hard time dealing with my weight due to a lack of exercise. Last I checked, I’m 92 kilos, so overweight. Now the problem for me is not a lack of time to exercise, but a lack of willingness to exercise.

2a: What responses would you expect from people in difficult circumstances?
The response of a person is entirely dependant on the situation on presented. Should the situation causes anger to a person, then that person would display anger. If the situation gives the person joy or happiness, then the person would then display those emotions. But how you react to thses emotions and how you deal with them is solely depenant on your level of self control and a good sense of judgement given the context of the situation.

2b: What are your responses in difficult situations?
If I were to encounter a difficult situation, I’d take a deep breath, think, scream into a pillow (or into something that would muffle the sound of you screaming), think again, scream into a pillow once more, drink some water, pray to God for a cool head to be able to solve the problem or find someone to help solve said problem, then go to sleep because it’s night and you’ve got school in the morning. Joking aside, it’s best to deal with a problem with a calm, clear, and collected head when solvng a problem or an issue, especially after praying to God to help you solve said issue.

3a: What cravings and beliefs tend to rule the human heart and produce ungodly reactions?
Desire, want, greed, envy, I could list out every single thing that makes humany tic when it comes to cravings and belief, BUT, I can give well… Four, as to me, these four are the first things that immediately came to mind when I first read the question. And why is that? Well, it’s because that no one in this world is born equal. Everyone in the world has some form of inadiquacy, whether that take the form of money, food, or basically anything. And because of this, everyone desires a better life, a better home to live in, better food to eat, better clothes to wear, everyone envy’s another person as they have things that they themselves do not possess, so they’s strive to do what they can to be able to gain those things. Then once they’d get it, they’d want more.

3b: What cravings and beliefs rule your heart?
I crave a simple life, not too extravagant, not too frugal, but just enough to live with my family in relative peace as we worship God. Of course, like many, I too dream of a better life and I do desire it, but I do not desire it enough to let go of the pleasant and peaceful life that I now have. As for my beliefs, well, they go as follows: “Do or Do not, there is no try.” and “Without God leading the way, then this ship will sink.” (Note: For the second belief, I view life like a vast ocean with people as ships.)

4a. What consequences follow sinful reactions?
This one a hard question to answer but I shall do my best to answer it. Well, it entire depends on the context which caused such sinful reaction. Reactions due to sin could create numerous negative effects not only in terms of the person but also in relation to the interactions he or she has with others. Reactions that happen because of negative feelings such as anger, jealousy, and greed may result in problems in the personal life of the individual, creating conflicts between individuals and causing the individual to feel bad about himself or herself. Reactions can further exacerbate the conflict, cause negative feelings to be experienced by other individuals, and create a continuous cycle of negativity and hostility. Ultimately, reactions can create various negative impacts in the emotional aspect of the person, leaving him or her stressed, anxious, or depressed.

4b: What consequences do you face after sinful actions?
When people commit sins, there are numerous impacts on their lives depending on different areas including spiritual, emotional and social aspects. In terms of the spiritual element, many people feel like committing sin has erected a spiritual wall that separates them from God and His moral teachings. This results in the feelings of shame and guilt for having disobeyed religious norms. The other impact on people is emotional where sinners experience inner conflicts, regret and lack of peace in their souls. Furthermore, people committing sins can affect their relationships with those around them which may result in isolation and problems among family members. There is also a possibility of being punished by God for committing continuous acts of sins according to some religions.

5a. What changes lives, inside and out? What rules the heart and produces godly responses?
Transformation of life from within and without is made possible through love, compassion, and true relationship. When people practice kindness, humility, and forgiveness, they become part of who they are internally and externally. The heart operates on the basis of ideals such as faithfulness, integrity, and compassion, which ensure that any reaction is characterized by patience and forgiveness—a higher way of being and acting. This higher way of responding comes out of the heart when people have a heart for godliness because it seeks to imitate virtues such as love and humility. In all, it is when our inner beliefs are reflected in our outer behavior that real transformation happens in our lives.

5b. What changes your life? What rules your heart?
The thing that shapes my decisions and directs my life is the transformative power of the love and grace of God. As per the holy Bible, it is only through the mercies and truth of God that a person can be renovated and directed in one’s doings. In Romans 12:2, the apostle Paul states that Christians should neither form after the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renovation of their minds. The sinners will be convicted, reformed, and enlightened with peace and joy through the power of the Holy Spirit of God. If I submit myself to the reign of God, His commandments like "Love God with all your heart and soul" and "Love your neighbor as yourself" serve as the guideline for me.

6a. What specific good Fruit do you observe?
Love, joy, peace, kindness, are some of the things that I have seen other people display. When these fruits can be seen, there is definitely a transformation that has taken place within someone's heart due to the workings of the Holy Spirit, and the kind of character that God displays in dealing with other people as well. Not only are these fruits good fruits, but they also help build up relationships both within God and amongst people.

6b. What specific good Fruit do you observe in your life?
Peace, joy, love, kindness are but some of the things that I possess.

7a. What good effects result from the way Paul handled his situation?
Paul addressed his issue with a resilient, patient, and optimistic approach which brought about numerous positive results. Thanks to being capable of handling his problems wisely and patiently, he managed to retain control of the situation and did not do anything rashly which could lead to even more problems. Due to his patience and ability to persevere, he found the ways to address the issues effectively. His optimism made him concentrate on all the prospects for self-improvement that had arisen before him. It helped him to cope with problems and made a good impression on others.

7b. What good effects result from the way you handle your situation?
Patience, patience, patience, clarification and understanding are some of the things that I’ve learned every time I handled a tough situation.

So yeah... I have nothing more to say.

Kbye.
