Divas
I remember back in the 1990s when divas were so popular. Whitney Houston was already huge by the mid-1980s, and she made it even bigger when the movie she starred in, "The Bodyguard," made her a bigger star. The soundtrack of the movie also became one of the biggest sellers of all time. Even the main theme, her own version of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You," remains popular to this day. It actually feels like her own song—no offense to Dolly. After "The Bodyguard," Whitney Houston was featured in more movies along with their soundtrack albums: "Waiting to Exhale" and "The Preacher's Wife."
Mariah Carey debuted in 1990, and her self-titled debut album and lead single, "Vision of Love," brought her to superstardom. She scored multi-platinum albums and had the most Number 1 singles during the decade on Billboard, with a total of 14. She was also awarded Artist of the Decade.
Celine Dion may have already been a star in French-speaking countries, but she reached global superstardom through "The Colour of My Love," followed by her big sellers, "Falling Into You" and "Let's Talk About Love," as well as her "Titanic" contribution, "My Heart Will Go On," her biggest hit ever.
Toni Braxton could have been part of this group of power vocalists, but she was unable to continue her momentum. Her biggest album was "Secrets," which included her biggest hit ever, "Un-Break My Heart.
Thursday
It seems it will be another hot day due to the sun shining brightly. It can be felt because even early in the morning, I'm already perspiring.
Walk in Olongapo
I had a walk in Olongapo City as I headed to a convenience store. The roads look clean, and are well-maintained.
