And Now For Something Completely Similar (ThreeTuneTuesday)

(Edited)

It's #threetunetuesday and I've been thinking of a couple of songs to share for this week, but my partner informed me that she's choosing the songs today haha we have pretty similar tastes in music, except she's more into commercialized poser stuff and I'm into the real deal. "Piss off." She said with a laugh as she read what I wrote. It's a pretty interesting idea to be fair, so I'm open to letting her choose.

Funnily enough, when I said I was going to write something for today she said "It's Tuesday so I'm picking the songs." She's not even on Hive, the faker. Maybe I'll be able to finally persuade her to join, and she can create her own #TTT posts.

Avenged Sevenfold - The Stage

Here's one that I think is amazing, and if you've never heard it, check it out, especially the music video. This gives me chills every time I see it, such an amazing video and song. Absolute pungent work of art.

Ever heard Avenged Sevenfold? Well, if so, you might notice that this one sounds a little bit different than their regular stuff. This one is called The Stage, prior to this, two albums came out, Nightmare was an album released after their drummer "The Rev" died, and he's featured on a few of the songs, but mainly just recorded demo tracks for it. After that, Hail To The King came out, and it's okay but I wasn't really a fan of it.

Then, the title track and debut of the new album, with a new drummer came out, and instantly, I thought this was amazing. It was only afterwards I found out that the new drummer is the drummer from Bad Religion, a band I really like and introduced her to a few years previous.

He brought a punk beat to their music and I even noticed that there was a certain amount of a political undertone to some of their stuff which I had never noticed in their music before. I think the combination of punk and metal, where one style doesn't overpower the other is brilliantly done here and for the first time, I actually found some Avenged songs I actually sought out on my own.

My partner is a huge Avenged fan, but it was never really my cup of tea, not that I would tell her that.

Something Eerie About The Revs Passing
On Nightmare the last song on the album, is a song called Fiction, and the Rev had the word Fiction tattooed down his sternum; because he always felt that his life was too good to be true.

But, in the process of writing the song, it was called Death, and once The Rev finished recording the Demo of the song he changed the name of the song to Fiction, and three days later he died. In the recording of the song, the band used the demo of the drums and vocals, and it's the last anyone ever heard of him singing.

My partner just told me that, and I actually never knew it. She was talking while I was typing it, but it's pretty eerie, and sad, he was a really good drummer and a great songwriter, I like some of the songs he created over the years of being with the band.

Trivium - Shogun

Okay, since I could have the first one, now it's her turn to pick a song, and this is what she chose. I asked her if there was anything she has to say about it and she replied, "I like it. It's 11 minutes long and doesn't get boring."

Well, there you have it folks.

She started singing, and stopped to say, "This song makes me want to kick doors down." I don't know if she means literal doors or metaphorical doors. Upon questioning her statement, she said both.

Yeah, she's a fan of Trivium, and the funny thing is, I actually went to see them back in 2008 which wrecks her head, especially since I wasn't even a fan of theirs when I saw them, or after. I did/ do like them, but I never got into them. Although, she kind of wins on the gig front. She's seen Slipknot, Machine Head, and a bunch of other bands I'd love to see live.

I'm just letting the song play and typing whatever she says about it. "Like, it's just a perfect song to end an album with. It's such a good album and then this ending just ties it up."

She just said there, that what she likes about Trivium is that if you can't make it to one of the gigs, you can kind of still be involved as the lead singer streams them all on Twitch, and he even streams his warm-up to the gig.

It's true really, that is pretty cool, especially these days when artists are telling everyone to lock their phones up in a safes before entering the venue, which is stupid.

Alestorm - The Sunk'n Norwegian

These guys are actually pretty sick. When she introduced me to them and said they were "pirate metal" I rolled my eyes and was just thinking, "Here we go, I hate these gimmicky bands."

After the first song I was like, okay, yeah, they're not bad. But then, after a few more I grabbed me bottle o' rum and started chantin' shanties.

They're really catchy, do some great videos, and I like the big sound the band has, the singer is a nut and comes out with a mad amount of songs, and ideas. They're a good bit of fun to listen to and I think if 'the craic' was a band, it's these guys.

We were meant to see them back last year, but couldn't go because of the stupid lockdown stuff, the night was meant to be really good though and the next time they come to Ireland we'll be there.

The lead singer is from Scotland, and different members of the group live all over the place, the drummer and bassist are from Northern Ireland and the guitarist is from Hungary and lives there. When I heard that the band are living all over the place I thought it was mad, but then again, if your band was in any way successful and you were making money there's nothing stopping everyone from heading off to do their own things, to meet up as a tour starts. I mean, I'm sure they have a setup to be able to jam and write their music online.

Well, That's It For This Week
I enjoyed this new dynamic of the two of us talking about the picks. But, I'd like to get her on here to do her own posts, I had a few songs in mind I wanted to chat about, I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles though, things change.

Dude, she's got good taste. I've collected a few A7fold songs along the way. The guitaring and drums are pretty fucking evil wicked. They've got that old school metal sound which I miss sometimes.

"This song makes me want to kick doors down." I don't know if she means literal doors or metaphorical doors. Upon questioning her statement, she said both.

I like her already 😁

She's seen Slipknot, Machine Head, and a bunch of other bands I'd love to see live.

Now I'm just fucking jealous!

That Trivium track is now in my playlist. It's got a great combo of melodic and hard. B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!

Great selection from both of you!

I'm hoping to get her on here soon! I think I nearly have her convinced, she was even on her phone there flicking throught the communities to see what's up here and what she could write about.

Yeah I like that Trivium one too, it's pretty sick the way it goes through a few different tempos and the breakdown is pretty sick.

The amount of bands she has seen is mad, mainly metal bands, we'd be talking about music or whatever and she'd just bring up seeing them live like it's nothing. I think she seen Metallica three times, Mastadon twice, Machine Head twice, Avenged four times.

She's a big Avenged fan and has a Death Bat tattoo'd on her back.

My favourite band is Nofx and I've only seen them once back in 2009, I'm hoping to see them this year though.

You must convince her! The fact that she's actually looking through the place shows she'd interested. She can write about anything - fuck, everything really. I mean, hell, I created a community a few days ago called Cake & Coffee Cunce just for my coffee posts 🤣 Even if she posts nothing else, I'll be keen to see what music she puts up once a week on TTT.

I'm not surprised she's seen Avenged four times if she's a big fan. The tattoo is kickass.

I fell into a rabbit hole of punk a few hours ago while trying to find a specific song. Still haven't found it yet and not for lack of trying, If you read my post next week, you'll understand why. Gosh, I haven't listened to NOFX for many years. That takes me back a few years. Shit, life was easier at that stage lol. I hope you get to see them again and when you do, you have to post lots of photos on Hive. Deal?

YEAH GET ON HIVE (insert your partners name here) AND POST LOTS OF BABY KALEB PLEASE!

Hahaha I love the back and forth of your interactions with her popping into this post, ya'll are Kay-ooot! 😍 Nice picks as well, although... how are you going to call the mother of your child a poser?! Shucks, in the states in the 2000's those were fighting words hahahaha !LOLZ

Funny enough, I saw trivium recently... WELL, I went to see white chapel mostly, who opened for them. Was a cool show for sure, I THINK they might have played Shogun actually! (I was smoking wacky tobaccy, who knows for sure LOL) Thanks for the Jams🤘😁

Hahahha when she read that I'd called her a poser she was about to throw hands.

I'm hoping she'll get on here, I've been telling her about Hive for over a year now, she knows about the writing communities, and film, tv and gaming ones too, but I think it'll he the music community and TTT in general that may just get her to make the plunge.

I really liked Trivium when I saw them, they are a really cool band, even though at the time I didn't know many of their songs... and still kind of don't, other than what she plays.

Hahaha can't beat a few smokes and some tunes, I haven't smoked in ages because I was getting too freaked out with anxiety, but whenever I've had a smoke at a gig or something I never really get it.

I like these posts to introduce me to new music. I have heard of these bands, but not heard too much. Metal is very varied.

My daughter is off to Download and has been before. She may well have seen some of these bands. Her tastes are pretty varied and she's into bands I don't know at all.

I think the first song, "The Stage" is amazing and has a great video to go along with it, it gives me chills everytime I hear it.

I've never been to Download, but I'd love to go to it. Aload of great bands in one place! A few of my mates headed over for it this weekend, and I told them to take a few videos and pictures, the line-up seems great.

Pirate Metal!! Who knew, eh!! That was probably my favourite of the bunch though tbh. I have a funny feeling one of my sons is going to be an out and out metal fan, I can already see it in my mind's eye and most likely to be my middle son. He might educate me a bit! For now though #ttt is educating my and I am coming across lots of metal here and really liked the mix-up from yourself and herself this week, nice one. She needs to haul ass and get herself a Hive account lively style..
