Sharing A Couple of Tunes For TTT

It's Tuesday which is one of the days a week when the Music community is a buzz with every sharing a couple of songs for #TTT so I thought I'd add a couple in that have been on my mind this week.

Johnny B Goode - Chuck Berry

I love this song, and it always reminds me of Back To The Future every time I hear it, but I can appreciate the song regardless of the connection I have made between it and that film.

I've loved that trilogy of movies since I first saw them when I was a kid, and since then I have watched them countless times. It's great how they still hold up today and are great compared to most of the films that have come out in recent years.

Down in the cinema in the next town over from me, they played the first film a couple of months ago, and it was amazing being able to see it up on the big screen after so many years of enjoying it on the small one.

We all made a day out of it and headed down for some food in Eddie Rockets, or Empty Pockets as we always refer to it, on account of how pricey it can be. But, the food is worth it to be fair to them. It really added to the experience of going to see the film, considering the 50's style of Eddie's and the fact that the majority of Back To The Future is set in the 50's.

Fortunate Son - Creedence Clearwater Revival

This song popped up in my suggestions after I finished playing Johnny B Goode, so I figured I would stick it on for a bit of a bop and share it up here.

My cover band does a kickass version of this song, and I was actually surprised by how handy of a song it is to play on the bass. It's got a good groove to it and seems to get the crowd going well, and our singer does a great job of it and it kind of switches it up a bit because of her female vocals.

The Guitar player added in a pretty sick solo at the end of the song, and the Drummer goes wild at the end for a big finale that we all have a lot of fun with. It's the type of song that would be perfect for ending a gig.

Not Gay - Lonely Island

This song is bloody hilarious. I've always loved Lonely Island, because they're such a funny group and write songs that are on par with the typical kind of stuff that is played on the radio, but obviously because they're a jokey kind of band they wouldn't really have their stuff out on tradition radio. I mean, well, maybe they do in America, but over here they wouldn't be played unless it was some independent station.

I only saw their film Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping a few years after it came out, and was shocked at the fact that I hadn't seen it sooner. It's a great movie, and a lot of the music in it - including this one - was written for the film and it's funny to think of musicians writing songs from the perspective of characters in a story they made up.
