Sharing Some Body Count For TTT

avatar

Today I saw that Body Count are coming to Europe this summer for a tour, and I really want to go see them for one of their dates. Seems like they're not hitting Ireland, but they're doing 3 dates in the UK, and they're also doing a bunch on mainland Europe - most of which seem to be festivals - so I'm going to figure out which country would be the best to get to, and make a holiday out of it.

Institutionalized - Body Count

This song is great, and it's a cover/ re-imagining of the song by Suicidal Tendencies, but along with being a kickass version of it, it adds a decent amount of humour to the song.

The original is great, but this version of it is really good, and in a way kind of modernizes the song, and also the music video is great.

One of my favourite bits is the final verse of it, where he's having the confrontation with the vegan.

"Hey calm down, I'm a vegan."

"Fuck a vegan! I could give a shit if you eat saw dust motherfucker! Just step away from my fuckin' sandwich!"

Hey Joe - Body Count

This is another cover of theirs, where they completely make it their own and really bring something new and different to the table. The musicians are great, especially the guitar.

It got to a point where this is the version of the song I'd go to when thinking about it, just because of how good it is. I love how relaxed it is, while also hearing that the musicians are almost holding back.

This whole album is great, Born Dead and it's well worth checking out if you haven't heard it before.

The Gears of War - Body Count

Okay, I was going to share another song here, but wtf, I didn't know they wrote a song and performed it for Gears of War. It's been a long time since playing those games, and the song rings a bell, so I must have known about it before.

This is a really good track though. It has been used for Gears 3, or maybe 2 because they mention horde in the lyrics and that game mode didn't release until the second game.

Pretty sick song to be fair.

Another band I don't know, but I'm aware of Ice-T. of course. Their Hey Joe is nice.

What has everyone got against vegans? I'm not one, but I gave up meat many years ago.

Hahaha I don't know man, I just kind of find vegans pretentious and annoying, litrally every person I've met who's a vegan has made sure to let me know, while also subtly putting me down.

I've been a vegetarian my whole life, never eaten meat or fish, never really talk about it but every vegan I've met has preached after 5 minutes of not eating meat. I don't mind them, and think it's all good what people want to do, but don't like the attitude most of them have showcased to me.

Had a good conversation with one I met on Vikings, he was talking about the vegan stuff, I was talking about being a vegetarian and he legit gave me a side eye and said, "I find the next moral step for a vegetarian is veganism."

Like, we should be on the same team, but there's this underlining attitude that vegans think they're better than everyone else and need to convert every person they meet.

I'm sure there are some who don't preach. I don't think there need to be rules about lifestyle, but we can each make our own choices. My reasons for not eating meat may be different to yours. I happen to like cheese and eggs, but rarely have milk. Some of our meals are vegan, but it's no big deal for us.
