Sharing The Worst Christmas Song Ever For TTT
It's the most, wonderful time, of the year.
Sorry, I sometimes get lost in a bit of the Christmas spirit once Halloween is finished. Now, I'm going to avoid doing a few songs with this season in mind, but there is one that popped into my head that I thought I'd open up this post with.
Fairytale of New York - Bon Jovi
Did anyone ever hear this abomination? I know a lot of people who don't like Fairytale of New York, stating that it's overplayed, and all that kind of stuff.
Regardless of whether or not you like the original, I think everyone can admit that this version is complete scutter, and Bon Jovi can stick to whatever the hell he was doing prior to trying to "Modernize" this classic song.
Whether or not you agree with the language used in this song, I think changing it to "You're a scumbag, and a bragger, and you've lost all your swagger," is the worst idea I've ever heard. I can imagine everyone in the studio praising the decision to change the lyrics, but my god, they were wrong.
To me, this song has become something of a Christmas tune that I crack out once a year to laugh and cringe at. It has essentially become a tradition.
The comments underneath the song here are gas too, and well worth a giggle.
One of the best I saw was, "The last person to assault the Irish like this was Oliver Cromwell."
You're Dead - Norma Tanega
Here's one I really like, and I first heard it from the film, "What We Do In The Shadows" which is a really good film about vampires and spurred a TV series.
The song has a good rhythm to it that you can get lost in, and it also has some great lyrics that actually work ridiculously well with the idea of vampires, for that reason, it makes for such a good opening to a movie.
I love how songs and artists can gain an audience due to being used in films, TV shows, and even games.
Ain't No Rest For The Wicked - Cage The Elephant
This song is actually really cool and popped into my head when mentioning the last song, and how it was used and came on my radar due to a film.
This song was used as the intro to the game Borderlands, and I remember being pretty pumped up to play it the second I loaded it up and this played. The band is kind of cool and is one of those Indie Rock bands, that don't really seem to be about anymore.
I actually listened to the album theirs that this song was out on and I really liked it - not every song - but there were a few that caught my attention.
It's been a long time since listening to them actually, and I reckon I might go down the Cage The Elephant rabbit hole once more and get re-acquainted with their music.
I'm not sure if they're still around, or producing music, but they were pretty good and gained a lot of recognition due to this song being used for that game and are a perfect example of the statement I made for the previous song.
I liked Fairytale of New York by Bon Jovi. I think it goes very well with the season; although it's soft. It's for calm and relaxation; although here in Venezuela we are very rowdy at Christmas.
Greetings.
Jesus really? It's the worst rendition of a song I've ever heard, I think it should be considered a war crime
I especially like soft music. It's all a matter of taste. Ed Sheeran covered it. Variable things in the world hahahaa. :*)

I think you are spot on with worst Christmas Song ever!!! I love Fairytale in New York but BJ totally killed it!! It doesnt help that I hate them anyhow!! lol
Love the 2nd tune alot, really cool.
The second one is so cool, What We Do In The Shadows is well worth watching it's on Prime Video if you have that.
Yeah, I think Bon Jovi is going to be living on a dime after that abomination. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall in the studio as the engineers were telling him how great his cover is haha
haha!! yeah, he was totally fooled into that one! I have prime and will check it out! Nice one.
