The Tough Choice of Picking Three Tunes (Three Tune Tuesday)
Tis Three Tune Tuesday, and for this weeks #TTT I've been thinking of a couple of songs to share with the community.
Chewing on Tinfoil - Breso
Here's a really good band, that I like and have listened to for years. They play some good Ska, with a kind of punky vibe in some of their songs, Chewing on Tinfoil is a relatively small band, and I think they're still going but I rarely hear of any gigs they're doing. I would really like to see them live though.
I think this song is great, and it has a very rough and ready recording for it. By the end of the song, the instruments drop down, almost completely, but the vocals keep it going, only to build back up to a big finale.
Selecter - On My Radio
Speaking of Ska, I've been listening to a fair bit of Selecter recently. I love bouncing around musically, and usually I'll come back to a band I haven't listened to in a while which is great for mixing up the playlists and stopping things from getting stale.
I would love to see Selecter live, I was meant to see them in the summer of 2020, they were going to be doing an open-air festival in Dun Laoghaire where they were going to be playing alongside The Specials, Toots, and Maytells and plenty of other bands over the weekend. The tickets weren't that expensive either, but then Covid came along and messed everything up.
That summer was going to be kickass, Conflict was playing in Dublin, that festival and then Chemical Brothers were playing in the stadium down in Cork, and then my own band was going to be playing Rebellion Festival in Black Pool.
Rat Boy - Who's Ready For Tomorrow?
I heard this song in the show on Netflix, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners - which is well worth a watch if you haven't seen it before.
This song has stuck in my head since seeing it, and I think there's something great about it. I think the lyrics are good, but it's more than that. I think this song encompasses a vibe and works so well in that show, and if you're interested in the Cyberpunk aesthetic or what the genre stands for I think you can appreciate this.
It's funny, I don't know if I think the song has that vibe due to its use in the show, or whether or not it just has that vibe and was chosen for the show because of it.
"I ain't your average sicko, I'm dead just like disco, my bank account is zero zero zero, oh no, I think I need a hero, I don't have no ego, cause I'm spinning out now."
It's short and sweet, and in general gives me nostalgia, for some reason, I only heard it this year haha

Breso is such a sk8r tune, have it on my Spotify skate list. I enjoy listening to it when I skate down the mainstreet & stick my fingers up at BMW drivers who try to ram me with their cars.
