My Typical Weekend... A Few Years Ago

Pre-pandemic, my typical weekend revolved around meeting up with friends and drinking. Usually on Saturday, we'd meet up and band practice and that was a bit of fun and something we looked forward to doing.

A Saturday would consist of us meeting up around 1 or 2 o'clock, running through our setlist, jamming some new ideas, shooting music videos, working out some social media stuff, or doing some recordings for our albums.

Saturday afternoon was consistently stuff to do with the band, but the moment the pandemic hit Ireland all of that ended, and we never quite got back to the regimented jamming sessions.

See, I liked doing stuff on a Saturday early, because there was always time to go out and do stuff by the evening. Usually, Saturday night was reserved for going out and socializing, and depending on the particular night, we could all go a bit wild.

Music, Events, and Gigs

On Friday and Saturday nights, we would often go out to gigs, or play gigs. Typically there wouldn't be much going on during the week, so those nights could usually be a bit mad and a good chance to get out.

Here in my town, you can find stuff going on most nights, but the best time for events is the weekend, and it was a good chance to get out and meet people that you wouldn't see that often.

Usually, we'd be playing up in Dublin too, so it would involve organising buses and stuff to get up and back down here. Again, all of that calmed down considerably over the last few years, and nights out became far fewer.

Nowadays

Since the baby came along, me and my partner tend to spend our weekends in and don't find much of a chance to really get out. Of course, when something is going on we do our best to make it, but these last couple of months have been pretty chill, and I'm sure the following years will be too.

To be honest, I'm happy to not be spending every Saturday drinking, and every Sunday hungover. I do enjoy getting out for a few pints and a meet-up, but I'm a bit more conscious now.

Tonight, for example, Kaleb is being minded by my parents while I go out to the pub to watch the Rugby. I'm not a massive sports fan, but Ireland versus the All Blacks is going to be a good match.

It's also my mate's birthday, so I'll be meeting up with him too, and a few others. So, I'm killing two birds with one stone tonight.

Weekends are enjoyed with going out to meet some friends.
Your former weekend engagement are pretty fun.
So as it is now, because you have to make some sacrifices and adjust to the new lifestyle.
I believe you will still get time to engage in those fun things or new fun activities.
