Daily Prompt | I'm not your maid

I'm not sure how many married women could say "I'm not your maid" without lying.

Let's face it, marriage has always included an unspoken domestic workload for women.

In our grandmothers' time — or great-great-grandmothers' for the younger ones — being the maid was the norm, or with a higher social standing, the housekeeper.

I hope that a few decades have done enough to better balance the division of domestic labor, and that women can truly say "I'm not your maid."

Although I suspect that in many households, the only difference between then and now is that a wife also works outside the home.

No estoy segura de cuántas mujeres casadas podrían decir No soy tu sirvienta sin mentir.

Aceptemoslo, el matrimonio siempre incluyó una carga de trabajo doméstico tácita para las mujeres.

En época de nuestras abuelas, o tatarabuelas en el caso de los más jóvenes era la norma, ser la sirvienta, o con mejor posición social, ser la ama de llaves.

Espero que unas cuántas décadas hayan servido para equilibrar un poco más la división del trabajo doméstico y las mujeres puedan decir realmente "No soy tu empleada doméstica".

Aunque sospecho que en muchos hogares, la única diferencia entre hoy y entonces es que ahora una esposa también trabaja fuera de casa.
