Daily Prompt | This is your constitucional crisis

The world's Constitutions seem to have become dead letters, as several countries find themselves in a kind of game we might call "This Is Your Constitutional Crisis."

The so-called opposition calls out the voting patterns of the majority aligned with the ruling Government, while parliaments resemble circuses full of jesters who decide nothing — or perhaps the only thing that matters to them is their monthly paycheck.

And let us remember that a Democracy is not necessarily Democratic when a majority joins forces to pursue its own interests, openly violating the constitutional mandate they swore to uphold before their voters.

Voters, who are fewer and fewer, fail to notice the direction their Governments are taking — acting according to their own whims and interests. And in the end, even you, who never votes, find yourself faced with the news that this is also your constitutional crisis, and that it affects you far more than you ever imagined.

Las Constituciones del mundo parecen haberse vuelto letra muerta, varios países están en una especie de juego al que podríamos llamar "Esta es tu crisis constitucional".

La supuesta oposición saca en cara las votaciones de la mayoría alineada al Gobierno de turno, y los parlamentos parecen circos llenos de bufones que no deciden nada, si acaso lo que les importa es su cheque de cada mes.

Y recordemos que una Democracia no necesariamente es Democrática cuando una mayoría se alía para llevar a cabo sus intereses violando abiertamente su mandato constitucional que juraron defender ante sus electores.

Los votantes, que cada vez son menos, no se dan cuenta del giro que están tomando sus Gobiernos que actúan según sus caprichos e intereses, y al final te das cuenta que tú qué nunca votas chocas con la noticia de que también esta es tu crisis constitucional y que te afecta más de lo que pensabas.
