Flowing with Change - LOH #273

This week our dear @joanstewart has presented us with two super interesting and profound topics because they are an important part of daily life and the future of society, but I will focus only on the first one.

The world is changing more and more rapidly, forcing us to change our habits and customs in many aspects.

One of them, possibly the most important, is the way we learn in order to keep up with new technologies and knowledge.

Although there is no magic recipe for learning, since each person has their own characteristics and innate abilities, an open mind is essential.

With a mind open to the changes and challenges of the constantly evolving world, it is much easier to acquire new learning strategies and tactics.

As someone who lived part of their youth in the "analog" world, I am fortunate to have been born at a time when the rise of technology in my country was in its early stages, which allowed me to keep pace with it.

For my parents it has been a totally different situation, and although they are only 3 years apart, each has a different attitude toward change.

My mother, who is younger than my father who is 77 years old, has been reluctant to learn anything even slightly technological, and to this day has not wanted to even learn to use WhatsApp, or answer a call if the phone is a smartphone.

On the other hand, my father has made the effort to adapt to the changes, because since we used to live very far from them, the only way to stay in contact was through a mobile phone.

That's how he first learned to send SMS messages in the era of analog cell phones, and for years now he has had smartphones, being a competent user of basic applications such as WhatsApp, YouTube, Duolingo and PlutoTV.

That is why I believe that the most important factor in achieving dynamic learning is open-mindedness, the desire to learn and also, of course, necessity and opportunity.

But to achieve this process of learning and change, accompaniment and support are needed. Younger people should get involved in the process to help their older family members achieve a level of autonomy, which is an aspect that will give them more confidence and opportunities to continue the daily learning process that life represents.

Fluir con los cambios

Esta semana nuestra querida @joanstewart nos ha planteado dos temas super interesantes y profundos porque son parte importante de la vida cotidiana y del futuro de la sociedad, pero me enfocaré solo en el primero.

El mundo está cambiando cada vez más rápidamente, obligandonos a cambiar nuestros hábitos y costumbres en muchos aspectos.

Uno de ellos, posiblemente el más importante es la forma de aprender para poder seguir el ritmo de las nuevas tecnologías y conocimientos.

Aunque no hay una receta mágica para aprender, ya que cada persona tiene sus propias características y habilidades innatas, es fundamental la apertura de mente.

Con una mente abierta a los cambios y desafíos del mundo en constante evolución, es mucho más facil adquirir nuevas estrategias y tácticas para el aprendizaje.

Como persona que vivió parte de su juventud en el mundo "analógico" tengo la suerte de haber nacido en un momento en el que el auge de la tecnología en mi país estaba en sus primeros pasos, lo que me permitió seguirle el ritmo.

Para mis padres ha sido una situación totalmente diferente, y aunque ellos se llevan solamente 3 años, cada uno tiene una actitud diferente ante los cambios.

Mi madre, que es más joven que mi padre que tiene 77 años, ha sido reacia a aprender cualquier cosa que sea ligeramente tecnológica, y hasta el día de hoy no ha querido ni siquiera aprender a usar WhatsApp, o atender una llamada si el teléfono es smart.

En cambio, mi padre se ha tomado el esfuerzo de adecuarse a los cambios, porque como solíamos vivir muy lejos de ellos, la única forma de estar en contacto era mediante un teléfono móvil.

Así fue que primero aprendió a enviar mensajes SMS en la era de los celulares analógicos, y desde hace años tiene teléfonos inteligentes, siendo un usuario competente de aplicaciones básicas como WhatsApp, YouTube, Duolingo y PlutoTv.

Es por eso que opino que el factor más importante para lograr un aprendizaje dinámico es la apertura mental, el querer aprender y también por supuesto la necesidad y la oportunidad.

Pero para lograr este proceso de aprendizaje y cambio se necesita acompañamiento y apoyo. Las personas más jóvenes deberían involucrarse en el proceso para ayudar a sus familires más viejos a lograr un nivel de autonomía, lo cual es un aspecto que les dará mas confianza y oportunidades de seguir el proceso de aprendizaje diario que representa la vida.
