SPLINTERLANDS - HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE LADDER - WATER FOCUS

A week has passed since my last post about Splinterlands, I have to say that today I'm much more relaxed because my exams are over. Now I have to wait for the results but I want to be optimistic and not get nervous about it! So what better way to relax than playing a couple of games of Splinterlands. So, my focus yesterday was Water and I will show you a battle that shows a pretty basic combo for this class but it helped me to rise through the ladder very quickly and I will show you the importance of investigating your opponent's history battle! It just makes your battle a lot easier and your winning chances are increased by a lot!

So if anyone is new here and doesn't know what the game is about let me explain it to you. Splinterlands is a play to earn a game in the NFT world. The game operates in the Hive blockchain and it is a trading game genre! To put it simply it's a card game that whenever you win you earn DEC (basically the crypto-coin of the game), the more you play and you are going up in the ladder, the more rewards you get (such as NFT-cards, etc). If you want to join and take a taste of the game, you can do that for free but if you want to start earning DEC and grind for NFT cards and earn more rewards you must buy the Summoner's Spellbook. I totally recommend starting your journey today and to help you with that we are going to review today one battle for my daily ranked games!

The Battle

Ruleset

• Holy Protection: All monsters have the Divine Shield ability
• Lost Magic: Monsters with Magic Attack may not be used in this battle
  

Team Formation

• The first monster I used is the Hardy Stonefish, the reason is obviously to tank some damage from my opponents' monsters.
• The second monster I used is the Demented Shark, and the reason I used this specific monster is the ability inspire. It adds tremendous value when you have a full team with melee monsters!
• My third choice was Pelacor Bandit, I chose this monster because of his ability to Sneak! I will explain later why I choose to focus on a sneak-based team!
• The fourth pick was Elven Cutthroat, a very reliable sneak monster with high Speed.
• My fifth pick was Uraeus and I chose this card because it's an excellent damage dealer at the backline.
• My last pick was Spineback Turtle, and this is my MVP card for this battle! I won pretty much the game instantly because I chose to place this incredibly strong monster in this position!

How to approach the battle

One of the most fundamental things you have to do before you begin to think of the cards you are going to use is to see the previous decks your opponent used! At this current meta is a necessity to do it if you want to increase your chances to win because right now most of the players just play a specific class/deck. So that means you can gain a huge advantage if you can predict the formation of your opponent. That was the definitive reason that I got a very easy win by only placing the Spineback Turtle at the end with Thorns.
