Arcade Colony Developing Mobile Version!

Hello Hive gamers! Recently, Splinterlands co-founder announced on discord the development of Hive mobile games. The mobile games are a project of Invennium, a Splinterlands subsidiary that focuses on sports themed and arcade type games. It's projects are the soccer themed game, Genesis League Goals and several games under Arcade Colony.

Mobile Games as a Gateway for Hive Adoption

I discovered Hive though Splinterlands in 2021 at the height of play to earn craze. I didn't even know about the social aspect of Hive and discovered this later on. It aligned with my other hobbies of social media and blogging so this is a great synergy of gaming and social media.

On the other hand, mobile games are popular, probably even more popular than pc games. Gamers can play mobile games anywhere and there is no need for dedicated gaming set up like in pc games. Most people own smartphones compared to pc and games are mostly free to play. Hive games ported to mobile can be a great way to invite them to use Hive as a social media platform.

Splinterlands and Invennium Pioneering Hive Gaming on Mobile

Splinterlands already has a mobile version of their excellent game. This year, Invennium is working on porting Arcade Colony games on mobile. As announced by @aggroed, Splinterlands co-founder, Arcade Colony site will be the first to go on mobile followed by casino-type game Stakehouse Den. Afterwhich, racing game Moon Karts will be next. I'm guessing the next game after Moon Karts will be Hyperrail Blaster, a space themed shooting game.

Arcade Colony games are an excellent fit to port on mobile because of their simplicity. There are already casino-type and racing games on mobile. Having the extra incentive of earning crypto will further boost popularity and adoption of the games.

Conclusion

With Splinterlands as a start and Arcade Colony leading the next wave, Hive could emerge as the go to blockchain for casual, mobile games. Hive has long been known for its speed, feeless transactions, and decentralized architecture, but widespread adoption is still far. Arcade Colony’s mobile expansion could help change that. Each mobile gamer onboarded through Arcade Colony becomes a potential Hive user, similar to how I was onboarded to Hive through Splinterlands. This makes Arcade Colony more than about games, it’s a gateway for Hive adoption.
