Deeplurker: Water Splinter's Feared Assassin

avatar

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

The Deep Lurker is one of the most feared assassins in the Water Splinter. It deals a lot of damage and has the Opportunity ability to hunt the enemy units with the lowest health. It was one of my favorite cards in the Chaos Legion and had been given a fresh leash on life in Modern mode with the Outsider ruleset.

Lore

Deeplurkers are terrifying underwater creatures that live in the deepest parts of the ocean. They prey on the weak and vulnerable. Legends say they are connected to the balance of elemental water magic and rise from the depths whenever that balance is threatened. In one encounter, a group of Kulu Swimhunters preparing to ambush a Praetorian fishing vessel were suddenly attacked by a massive Deeplurker. The monstrous creature seized one of the hunters and disappeared back into the darkness, causing the survivors to flee while the fishing vessel escaped unharmed.

Stats and Abilities

The Deeplurker is only a common card but has the stats and abilities that can rival even higher rarity cards. At maxed levels it deals five melee damage, has seen health and four speed. It has the Opportunity ability to target the enemy unit with the lowest health. It has Poison ability to apply to its target. Finally, it has Demoralize to decrease the enemy's melee attacks.

I used to have a level six Deeplurker which I used successfully in Gold League. Its two abilities Opportunity and Poison were great offensive weapons. Even a level four Deeplurker is good enough for Silver League.

Featured Battle

In this battle, player Koios71 had the Deeplurker in his team. He used the archon Loving the Moo. He had a dual tank combo of Coralforged and Commander Slade. In third position, he had a maxed level Deeplurker. His next units were low mana cards.

His opponent Cardeegel, is one of the top in the Gold League. He had the new archon Dragonlord Mancer and the extremely tanky Der Gottem Gearnut at tank. In second position was one of the most offensive units in the Chaos Legion set, Coastal Sentry with four melee damage and Dual Strike ability. The Deeplurker was given the Blast ability by the archon and this is how it wrecked Cardeegel's units. The combination of Opportunity, Blast and high melee damage ensured that it eliminated multiple enemy units in one strike. Even Der Gottem Gearnut's tankiness was not enough for Cardeegel to hold off Deeplurker's attacks.
