Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to my blog! Splinterlands just announced a new surprise for players in this post The new season includes new skins for collectors and a new ruleset called Dragon's Breath.

Units hit directly by a Magic or Ranged attack receive the Burning effect.
At the beginning of each round, Burning has a 33% chance to spread to adjacent units. All Burning units lose 2 Health each round. (Burning can be cleansed.)
Ranked Jackpot Prizes
I'll not touch on the skins and new ruleset. The most exciting announcement for me is the five new cards that can be earned from jackpot prizes. For the first time, Black Foils, Gold Foil Arcanes, and Black Foil Arcanes are included in rewards chests! This gives a chance, even though slim, for players like me to obtain those ultra rare cards.

The announcement changed my plans on my Glint spending at end of season. I'll probably blow all of my Glints on Ultimate chests which had an 8% chance of pulling an ultra rare card.
Jackpot cards are categorized as "extra". It has no production points (for land owners) but burnable for Glints. The cards come in several foils. The most are regular foils followed by gold foils. Black Foils, Gold Foil Arcane and Black Foil Arcane copies come in limited numbers.

The cards also come in different rarities. There is one common, epic and legendary cards while there are two rare cards.

The Jackpot Cards
Shadowcomb Duskrose (Common)

Shadowcomb Duskrose is a dual splinter (Death and Fire) card. It boasts of massive six melee damage, has nine health and one speed. It has four abilities: Charge, Rust, Fury and Ambush. She's an elf which is my favorite race. Being an elf gives her a powerful Execute ability when used with the Earth archon, Kaylia Silverleaf.
Ruinkeeper (Rare)

Ruinkeeper is also dual splinter Death and Earth card. It deals three magic damage and has three speed. It's defense is four armor and seven health. It has three abilities but held back by Reckless debilitation.
Busy Beaver (Rare)

The Busy Beaver is an Earth and Water splinter card. It deals three melee damage and has three speed. On defense, it has two armor and eight health. It has good support abilities including Repair and Protect but it's also held back by Reckless debilitation. I can see this card used with Water magic team similar to Venari Wavesmith.
Hrolfa (Epic)

Hrolfa is a Light and Water splinter card. It deals three ranged damage and has three speed. Its defense is a bit light with only two armor and five health. It has four abilities including two good supports Protect and Repair. This is yet another card that will be great with a Water magic team because of it's dual abilities of Protect and Repair.
Grix (Legendary)

Grix is a three mana, Earth and Light card. It boasts of two attacks: magic and melee while having four health and three speed. It has four abilities including Taunt and Bloodline Tribute that complements each other. Grix's bloodline is Saurian but he looks like a Rodentian. Perhaps there's a lore here similar to Loving the Moo's lore.
Final Thoughts
Splinterlands continues to excite with new developments introduced by the team. The new cards and skins brings new excitement and fun to the game. While I regret not saving my Glints, at least the season is not yet over and I changed my plans to blow all of them on getting a chance to get these cards. My favorite is the common card, Shadowcomb Duskrose because she's an elf. She also deals massive damage and has useful abilities and no debilitations.
