Jackpot Cards are Coming in the Frontier!

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to my blog! In the latest announcement in the discord and in this post, jackpot cards are coming to the Frontier mode! This is an exciting development so let me share my thoughts on this upcoming update on January 13.

Where to Obtain the Jackpot Cards

The jackpot cards are can only be obtained from the daily rewards. Note that they are not inside the chests if you're in Gold League. This is an additional item when we claim the daily rewards after winning five battles in the Frontier.

The Jackpot Cards

There will be four jackpot cards of different rarities. Let's check them out one by one.

Aimee Whisperwind - Common Water Card

Aimee Whisperwind is a nine mana, melee unit. She deals three melee damage and has the Opportunity and Fury abilities. This looks like a good card to introduce diversity in the Water splinter since it's mainly focused on magic units. This card will be a great combo to Vengeful Monk who also has the Opportunity ability. Together, they will hunt down enemy units with low health. Her Fury ability is also a good counter to New Beluroc Aegis ability, Taunt.

Necrulencian Thief - Rare Death Card

Necrulencial Thief is an eight mana, melee unit. He deals three melee damage and has the Sneak and Poison abilities. This will be a good unit to harass the enemy backline and deal Poison status effect on them. The Kanaaq Miner who also has the Sneak ability will be an ideal unit to combo with the Necrulencial Thief to harass the enemy back line.

White Chickadee - Epic Life Card

White Chickadee is a low mana (3) card with no attack. It has the Flying and Tank Heal abilities making it a good support unit and ideal in Earthquake ruleset. It's the third unit to have the Flying ability and second in the Life splinter. The other flying unis are Little Sister of Death splinter and Celestial Guardian of Life. To me, it would have been better for other splinters to have flying units to have more choices in Earthquake rulesets.

Eris Bimblenok - Legendary Fire Card

Eris Bimblenook is one of the professors of Waur Medge Academy in the Campaign missions. He deals three magic damage and has the Inspire ability, making it a great support unit to the melee heavy Fire team. This is another great idea to diversify the splinters. Having a magic unit in the Fire splinter will introduce more choices in rulesets where melee units are not allowed.

Black Foil and Arcane Variants

Another exciting part is the chance of getting a Black Foil and Arcane Variants when you pull a jackpot card. Unlike the regular cards where Black Foil and Arcane Variants are only available from the weekly draws, the special variants can already be obtained from the rewards if you're lucky.

Final Thoughts

The jackpot cards in the Frontier is another exciting update and we're just in the beginning of the year. This introduces possible new synergies that will change the current meta. We can expect to see more players to upgrade their Frontier deck to increase their chances of winning since every win counts in the Frontier.
