Loving the Moo: The Anti Magic Archon

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to my blog! As magic is becoming the meta in Splinterlands, players are looking for ways to counter it. One good option is the legendary archon, Loving the Moo. He is a legendary archon who grants a host of offensive abilities to units including Magic Reflect.

Lore

Loving the Moo is a minotaur orphan that was adopted by wolves. Based on his lore, I think he should grant buffs to Minotaurs and Canisans instead of Elementals and Canisans.

A pack of lupi found the brownhair minotaur calf alone in Fenmoor Basin's swamp, no sign of his herd or why he'd been abandoned. He was too young to survive alone, so they took him in, and when he lowed plaintively for his lost family, they named him Loving the Moo. He grew among them in Canicush on Lake De'lai's northern shore, learning lupine ways while discovering his own gift: an unprecedented mastery of elemental magic that allowed him to summon and command elementals from the outer, upper, and lower planes of existence.

Stats and Abilities

Loving the Moo is seven mana, legendary, Water archon. He grants the Poison ability to all Elementals and Canisans. He is also a tactics archon that provides Blast and Magic Reflect ability to two units. He is a an offensive archon that gives anti magic ability, a nightmare to magic teams.

Featured Battle

The featured battle shows how effective Loving the Moo is against the usual magic team in the Water splinter. The battle was in the top level of the Gold League with player CHAROK using Loving the Moo archon. The battle had Weak Magic and Collateral Damage rulesets. CHAROK's team had the following units.

Commander Slade

Commander Slade is an around tank having offensive and defensive capabilities. However, it has no sufficient defense against magic attacks. This weakness against magic was offset by the Weak Magic ruleset, wherein his armor will add protection against magic attacks.

Warwall Juggernaut

Warwall Juggernaut is an off tank with Reach ability. He deals two melee damage, has two speed, three armor and ten health. His offense is supplemented by his Armored Strike ability, utilizing his armor stats for offense. He also has the Painforge ability that's useful in the Collateral Damage ruleset.

Abyssal Elemental

The Abyssal Elemental is a magic unit that can play tank in some situations. It has the Resurgence ability that enables it to resurrect once with full health. Since it's an Elemental, it benefits from Loving the Moo's bloodline dominion buff, Poison.

Torrent Sniper

Torrent Sniper is a magic unit with the Snipe ability. CHAROK chose it to be given the tactics buff to maximize the splash damage from Blast. Snipe and Blast is a deadly combination of abilities.

Arcane Skinwalker

Arcane Skinwalker is a magic unit that has the Shapeshift ability. It can benefit from Loving the Moo's bloodline dominion buff and thus gained Poison ability. It also has a support ability, Inspire, giving additional attack to Commander Slade and Warwall Juggernaut.

Zargrul

Zargrul is a legendary magic unit that has Taunt among its abilities. CHAROK chose him to have the tactics buff to return magic damage to his attackers.

The enemy also had a tactics archon, Prophet Rosa that debuffs his enemy with Blind and also grant Poison to two of his units. His set up was a dual tank combo followed by damage dealers similar to CHAROK's. He also had a unit with Tank Heal and Cleanse in his team.

Both teams had a lot of offense. It was a battle of who was faster and can deal more damage per round. CHAROK's combination of Poison, Blast and Magic Reflect abilities did more damage demolished his enemy's team faster, even with healing.

Final Thoughts

I'm impressed by Loving the Moo having watched it in numerous battles. I even lost a lot of battles against this archon that I'm thinking of trying it next season by renting. It's a great archon to use not just against magic teams. With its offensive abilities Blast and Poison, it can decimate enemy teams quickly in a few rounds.
